A poll about the most important piece of sex furniture, your mattress. My questions 1) What type of mattress do you have. 2) How firm do you like your mattress to be.
I understand choosing memory foam and firm would seem to be a contradiction in terms, but I sleep better than I ever have on our firm mattress that has a memory foam topper.
I like my mattresses with absolutely no give whatsoever. My mattress of choice is actually sleeping on the floor with a thick blanket between me and the floor.
Both of my mattresses (at school and home) are inner spring. My one at school is rather firm. I put an egg crate mattress pad to soften it up a bit, but it's still firm and I like it like that. My mattress at home is in between. It's firm, but has a lot of padding on top. I actually love both of my beds. They're like my safe spaces wherever I am.
I have memory foam. It isn't as soft as one may think. It has a lot of give, but it feels firm beneath you. Its kind of odd... I love it and will never get a regular mattress again.
we got a good mattress cheap because it was a floor model from the previous year. it was a name brand, full size, and 100$ The best part was that it was already broken in. it is sooo soft. we even ended up putting a futon mattress on top of it, in place of a mattress pad. unfortunately the futon pad is caving in the middle, so now there is a dip in the center of the bed.
I'm not a huge fan of my mattress but it is not something I think to complain about. I used to sleep on an air mattress. I liked this but my mom couldn't deal with the thought of me technically sleeping on my floor so my parents bought me a bed. I would have chose differently.
I love my bed. Cali King semi firm.
Like Lauren there were a few years where I slept on an air mattress/floor/couch and this rickety old mattress that was like sleeping in a canoe, tilt one way and you are on the floor.
So now, after investing in a nice mattress I have no gripes shelling out a few bucks for the best one I can find. Its an important piece of furniture. Spend wisely
Our mattress right now is a full size innerspring with a memory foam top. It worked great when it was just me, but with different weights in the bed, it handles it differently, and I sometimes wake up a little sore. We have a queen size bed that we'll be able to use in about a year or so, it's pretty similar to the full size one we're on now, but bigger and distributes weight better.
I'm pretty happy with them so far, but when the time comes for new mattresses, I'll be looking into something like a tempurpedic.
I don't know if we have the last waterbed in existence, but it's close. My Man removed our pleather bumpers and now we have sharp wood sides, because they were ripping, then he broke them. You can't get them anymore. I then covered the wooden sides with an old cut up blanket, and it looks nasty and feels worse. Ug, classy. I can't wait to get rid of this bed. My legs feel like they're getting cut every time I get out of bed.
When this one finally pops, I'm getting a regular bed. Hopefully with a Stickley Style headboard and foot board. (Do you know how easy it is to attach.....things..... to a Stickley headboard? I'm tired of popping eye bolts.)
(P'Gell takes out a box cutter and sneaks upstairs....)
Get some towels and buckets before you do it P'Gell!
We have an inner spring mattress that is way too stiff for us. We bought a foam topper from Liberator that does help a lot, but it is still a little too stiff. And the sides are kinda falling in. Whatever brand mattress we bought, we aren't buying again. Our guest bed is my wife's bed from college, and it is much better than our current mattress.
we sleep on the fouton right now. Pull out couch is busted up and way too squeeky. Now the fouton is squeeking so we pull the matress onto the floor. God I hate crappy beds and matresses!
I have a sleep number bed which works great for me because of my back problems one night i like a firm mattresss and the next i like a soft mattress. So i love my bed.

Memory foam mattresses are great, not too firm, not too soft. A good mattress is very important…there is nothing worse than sex on a super soft or worn out mattress where the 'geometry angles' get all out of whack.
We just ordered one (Cali King by Stearns & Foster) that is the best of both worlds, innersprings with memory foam and pillow top. We're super happy about it. Our current bed has pillow top too, but no foam; and it is starting to sag somewhat. With both of us being big people, a longer bed will be so nice.
My bed is pretty soft. On top of the mattress is an extra layer of thick padding that isn't removable, which makes it a lot softer than a spring mattress with a foam topper

I find it funny that you mentioned parents because i recently got a new bed and the reason I got is that my mattress was in pretty bad shape and it was my birthday this mouth so my mother insisted on getting me a new one as a birthday present.
I got a firm mattress, it felt good in the store and I figured I could always buy a topper if I wanted to make it a little bit softer. So far I'm happy with it.
We had a memory foam 4 inch pillow top. First, it was horrible to fuck on. Second, I felt like I was drowning in it when I rolled over. Give me my firm posturpaedic any day!!
