I need clarification on the usefulness of liberator gear (pillows, wedges, etc)

Contributor: Breas Breas
I was browsing today and was looking at the sex furniture.. I am quite new to "sex toys" and the such .. so maybe someone could explain to me the usefulness of these items.. I was looking at the prices, and they are quite costly!

My question is: Couldn't you makeshift a couple of your throw pillows to allow you to be in a certain position for sexual activity just as well as these liberator items? What makes these items that much better to justify the high costs?

Hopefully no one gets upset by this post, I am just totally stumped at to what makes them so expensive and why they have a high demand..

Thanks for all your replies in advance!

From personal experience, pillows have a tendency to slide, flatten out and develop annoying bulges over time. In contrast, the Liberator Jaz - which I have - is very firm and stiff, and there's definitely no slippage.

I'm going to go ahead and say that the Throes are actually pretty awesome. They're not quite as big as a double bed, which bums me out---but they're extremely comfortable (microfiber for cold nights, satiny for warm nights), extremely waterproof (you toss it aside after sex and hey presto your mattress is dry), and easy to wash. I'm glad I have mine, even though it's spendy. If I lost mine I would buy a replacement. I do wish it was the full size of my bed, though.

As far as the furniture---I'd love to hear some responses, too. I use pillows occasionally but not that much, and I really wonder whether the prices are actually worth it. Everyone always gives rave reviews, but I can't tell if it's because they're really that good, or if people have a little placebo effect going on.

We have the wedge and throe. I absolutely adore both pieces! The wedge is soooo much different than pillows...it's firm, angled, doesn't slide/fall down, etc. It really allows for way deeper penetration and helps A LOT with fatigue. We always have it nearby when we have sex. I highly, highly recommend the wedge.

As for the throe, it's another piece that we always use. It totally absorbs everything and keeps the bed dry. We have the plush one and it's so soft on one side and satiny on the other. It does slip around a bit, but trust me, the usefulness of the throe is totally worth a little cover rearranging.

This is only my opinion, but if you could own only 2 pieces of Liberator gear, these are the 2 I'd recommend. They're freakin amazing and definitely worth every penny!

The foam they use in the shapes is a high density foam, much like you will find on a high quality couch or chair. This foam will last for years with a little care and will net develop a "memory" like cheap foam can. Add in a water proof cover under a very soft velour like fabric and you have some of the best, easiest to clean position aids available.

I have the Ramp, the Wedge, the Axis Hitachi, the Whirl XT, the Esse, and a Throe. I have written reviews based on my experience and I can tell you, we would not have spent our hard earned money on more Liberator products if my husband and I both, weren't blown away by the versatility and quality with the Ramp/Wedge combo to begin with.

The only piece I am not thrilled with, is the Axis Hitachi. It works, but the angle is not steep enough (in regards to the head of the toy) for me.

All the other pieces are worth their weight in gold!

How often did you use other position aids (like pillows) before you started using Liberator pieces, though? I wonder if buying furniture given how infrequently I find myself thinking "if only we were in a different, slightly unattainable position"... would it really improve my sex life?

I guess what I'm asking---was there a gap that needed to be filled in your sex life, and Liberator bridged the gap? Or was it something that you didn't know you needed, but now that you know it exists, you'd buy a replacement if you somehow lost yours?

I also wnt to apply this question to the toy storage boxes... As pretty as they are, $100 seems pricey..

We used pillows and blow up type pillows, like the Bean, a few times and they worked pretty good. While the Bean was easy to clean, take it outside and hose it off, the pillows were a bit harder to clean or required a extra blanket or towel. No worries with the Liberator shapes. It is nothing to slip the cover off and toss it in the wash.

Honestly though, if not for winning the Wedge and getting the Ramp as a gift, I don't think I would have bought one. Now that we have them, I would for sure replace them if the need arose. The wife and I are not getting younger and some of our favorite positions are once again possible with these. Not to mention using them for massage, the bring the body up higher and there is no worries about oils staining the fabric.

This is what makes Liberator products worth their weight in gold!

Yes and No...

YES BECAUSE: You could easily throw some pillows on top of one another, since it is cheap and practical. It would hold you over.

NO BECAUSE: The cool thing about these liberator shapes and whatnot is that they are made of this amazingly thick foam. There is also no slip n' slide, so there's no risk of falling or the pillows slipping (which can result in injury - it's happened to me!).

I recommend trying a liberator shape if you are looking into sex furniture. Once you try it you'll understand the huge difference. But makeshift pillows could work all the same. just make sure they are sturdy.

I have reviewed almost all of the storage options that are featured here on Eden. I truly like using them better than just regular storage boxes, although having older children that dig, lockable storage is a must for me.

I have the Liberator wedge and the best thing I can say is its firmness and the angles at which it positions you are far more enjoyable to pillows that sink in and slide. I also would not trade my throe for the world. In fact I had to buy a replacement because my daughter took mine as her own.

They are pricey but worth it in my opinion.

This makes sense, and as massage tables too! Thanks for answering, Dwtim (and everybody!)

so are the liberator items not as useful for younger?

My husband and I are in our mid 20's right now, and we have a few Liberator pieces but they don't get used all the time. I love having them, but at the same time right now for us, it's not a big deal if we don't use them. When we do use them, I'm never disappointed. I do use the Heart Wedge all the time as a backrest though.

I'm 30, husband is 34 and we use the wedge all the time. I think that they're useful no matter what age you are.

they can be. i personally want a few pieces because though i can maneuver around the bedroom without any support, a pillow like the wedge would make it ideal for deeper penetration by positioning under the hips.

i also want it because they are some days where i'm ridiculously sore from the gym and a pillow gives me a little more support for my achy muscles.

and of course, they can make more difficult positions more manageable.

There is a big height difference (6'5" versus 5'7") between my husband and I, and some of our favorite positions (him standing next to the bed) didn't really work out for very comfortably for long periods of time. Either his knees would wear out, or the 4 pillows underneath me would collapse. After ONE time with the wedge, we were both hooked. I really enjoyed the comfort, the stability, and the deeper penetration, and he was blown away by the pleasant difference in sensation he felt at the base of his penis, based completely on the angle of our position! They are most definitely worth the cost. And hey, keep browsing and contributing! Eden points are a great way to help out with the cost.
