I have a couple favorites that I rotate depending on mood and accessibility. I usually use two in a session, but I have four or five favorite toys out of my collection. I just pick whichever has the characteristics I'm looking for that day; if I'm having a quick session I'll grab the Hitachi but if I want something a bit more drawn out, I'll for for the Eros + a G-spotter, etc. Sometimes I like girthy, sometimes I like thinner with targeted G-spotting, sometimes I want anal, sometimes I just want clit stim.

Sounds like you're on the right track. Researching the materials, functions, and reviews means you'll be an informed buyer. Initially, we got cheap ones, but after our favorite one broke on multiple occasions (after having brought a second one), we started going after better quality.

I've got a fair few, and they most of them see pretty regular use. But they definitely fall into two groups: solo and partnered play. My bullets and such are great for partnered sex, but my wahl 2-speed is definitely and masturbation toy.

As much as a part of me wants to try out a bunch of the neat things I see *Right Now*, you make a good point about spending more time analyzing exactly what is & isn't working for my body. With just the 2 vibes I have right now, I've been able to learn a lot about what is & isn't going to work for me. Unfortunately, that also makes me paranoid that every vibe I try is going to have some factor or another that makes it not quite right. But I guess that's where the fun of trying more comes in. Thanks for the reminder that this is about enjoying myself not completing a scavenger hunt. less

We have three vibrators plus the free bullet we got from here for signing up for the newsletter.
The Butterfly Kiss was the first one we got and it is the first one I'd recommend for folks to try. Why? Its cheap - its not made of jelly (I'm talking about the Cal Exotics one) and it gives you a basic starting point for size and shape. To me its kinda like having a tricycle to help you learn.
We then moved up to the Flexi Ribbed Lover by California Exotics because we knew that I liked the bulb-shaped head and I needed something wider. It had 10 speeds and that was also neat considering their Butterfly Kiss had less.
At the same time, we bought the Opis which is a silicone vibrator which comes to a pointed tip at the end. I love the Opis for its "va va voom" vibrations because they feel deeper than the Flexi. But we have found that the Opis is best for my clitoris and to exercise my Kegel muscles and tighten them because the pointed tip hurts me if we try it for G-Spot. Meanwhile - the Flexi hits the G-Spot every time.
We still use the Butterfly Kiss because it helps me warm up and cool down.
My point? Each one has a great use - each one has a different texture and different controls and for less than $100 (closer to $80 maybe?) we got to try three styles, thee textures and a variety of settings and control panels.
Good luck with whatever you decide - I'm waiting for my reviews on these products to come out.
But basically - I'd try buy a small variety of the less expensive vibrators to find the size and shape and vibration styles that fit you best.

My toys progressed in quality throughout the years. I don't really know why I still keep the older ones. I guess they gave me so many good memories ;-)

I have a decent sized collection and there's always ones that work for me not matter what. There are some that take a little bit of time or play, so they don't get used as much. Then there's the ones that don't quite fit or work or aren't strong enough. If I can sterilize them, they get a new. If I can't (or they're expensive), they sadly sit unused in my toybox while I use my go-to toy(s).
