Yup. Even with the blanket over me, and a pillow overtop, the hitachi could still be heard in the next room.

It is super loud. You would probably have to use it when they're gone. Sometimes I use it under the covers so that the sound is dampened and it's still pretty loud.

It's probably the loudest toy I've owned. Short of blasting music or a movie I wouldn't recommend the toy if you don't want to be hear.

I've had a lot of vibrators and I live with other people, and I don't think it's too loud. At least, it's not the loudest I've owned.
