I'd say just to try the Hitachi first before you purchase an attachment unless you *know* that you'll want to insert the vibrations somehow. We rarely use our attachments, but we do have them. We just find that our Hitachi feels the most amazing when used externally. If you want a vaginal/anal toy with serious vibrations, though, the attachments can certainly be helpful.

I was going to say the same thing. I have the Ideal and I used it by itself first. I got an attachment and didn't like it.

i'm thirding what kayla says. see if you like it first; i know the attachments can be a bit on the pricier side
