And technically, all batteries are environmentally hazardous. At some point, even rechargeable batteries need to be replaced and disposed of.

I think rechargeable removable are best, because a) I can own fewer of them, and swap between machines I'm using them in, and b) when they do eventually stop working very well, the whole toy/machine isn't useless.

Always rechargeable and internal, I prefer ones that plug in over ones that rest somewhere on the product for charging. Very often they'll move without me knowing and disconnect in the process.

We dont have any plug in toys yet. Some of the toys drain the batteries pretty damn fast. Her fav. rabbit gets only 3 uses out of it before we have to put in new batteries. I wish more toys came with a wall plug. Then you could recharge the battery when it was needed, or just leave it pluged in.

Outlet or rechargeable is fine as then it doesn't use batteries since they are expensive to buy, especially in some of the toys that are the really weird batteries and not the standard AA or AAA.
