I think it really depends on what type of toy it is. Some are expected to be more where others like nipple clamps aren't really expensive. (Says the woman who just placed a order and spent $150 on just one of the toys in the order... )
I have been known to drop well over $100 on a single toy. I am really not interested in toys made with cheap materials anymore. I have to be extremely careful with what goes into or onto my body; my compromised immune system (I have MS and my therapy suppresses it) that is highly sensitive to just about everything, depending on the day.
It all depends on the toy. It would have to be something high quality that I know would work for me if I am going to spend a good amount. I try not to go over $75 of my own money ( Eden Points are another thing lol).
I have spent AU$230 on one toy. But when I first started out I didn't want to spend any more than $50.
Now that I have gotten a taste for Lelo and higher quality toys, I have no problem at all spending $130+ (after the 30% off discount) for the toys $150+.
The most I've ever spent on a sex toy is about $100. I won't buy anything made with cheap materials anymore and I only like silicone toys. I got too many infections in my younger days from cheap toys that were impossible to get completely clean. It's worth it to spend a little extra on higher quality stuff.
