Some people prefer oil or silicone based jack off lubes for male masturbation because they don't dry out nearly as fast as water based lubes! If you're just using your hands, I'd say they're a nice thing to have, but be careful with toys since oil and silicone lube can damage some toys.

Some water based lubes dry out faster. Jack aide lasts longer than others, but does probably need to be cleaned off when you are done, where as some others don't. So yes, there is a difference. Hand lotion is good too for jacking off, but viscosity varies there too.

I did a review for Jack aide and other lubes and compared their performances for jacking. Some are better than others.

i find myself using hand lotion a lot but lotions like that get thick and sticky, tend to rub u raw at that point. but 1 good lube made just for self indulgence is more than enough, if possible avoid the hand lotions!
