I think they make great "large-group" gifts. I'm tempted to buy a couple and give them away at my upcoming presentation about using sex toys in BDSM. Plus, they just aren't very threatening so they apply to a lot of different people.

I was once given a novelty toy like that. I hated it. I only had 2 other vibrators at the time, so I wasn't as picky as I am today, but I still tossed the darn thing. It was loud, it wasn't waterproof, and it was weaker than my other toys. *shrug*
Now, as gag gifts? They're fun. The laughs are worth it by themselves. And if someone decides to actually USE the gift, and ends up becoming a vibrator enthusiast for life? All the better. But I'll recommend something else as their actual go-to vibe once they get over the whole "omg it's a vibrator, I can't have one of THOSE!" mental block.

the one problem that i have had with vibrators is that i like different feelings. The whole one kind of vibrating just doesn't get me off....to be honest, i prefer tounges and fingers as of now.

I think "gateway toy" is a fantastic description. My first vibe was one of these in a Lifesavers case. It wasn't intimidating, and I could laugh it off as a joke purchase. It probably would've taken me a lot longer to buy my first toy if I hadn't seen one of these.

That is really cool JadeInBetween, I was always intimidated by those black jelly dongs. Bullet shaped toys and novelty ones present comfort for new timers.

Although it probably isn't always the case (and would vary from toy to toy) I think the novelty toys give off an impression of cheapness. With that being said, I had never seen this set of toys and think they would be great as a gag gift!

Love them as gag gifts! They're funny and get a good laugh out of your friends. They usually suck for use though.

I agree with you, LegalKegel, there is a certain cheapness to them, which makes them easier to buy as gag gifts. But if I ever got one, I would be like "Eh, might as well at least try it" Then after that I'd pull out my big guns!

They are good for a laugh and even better for the reactions I get from the guys! Love them as gag gifts and stocking stuffers but I will suggest something much more substantial if I find the person is really interested.

I don't own any novelty vibes, but they would be cute for bachelorette parties etc. Are they really that strong? I need Hitachi/Wahl/FunFactor y strength to get anywhere with vibrators. Also, I need quiet toys, due to kids in our house, so I don't think I would use one of these.
But, as someone said, it would be a cute "gate way" toy for friends who are intimidated by sex toys. My only problem with that is that if it is too loud or doesn't get them off, they will think vibrators "don't work" for them.

One of these was actually given to me as a gag gift in high school and it was my first "real" vibe, and I was actually happy to get it because I had always wanted to try some toys out, but never was allowed to living in my parents home!
