Would you buy a toy on eBay?

Contributor: - Kira - - Kira -
My husband is an eBay freak. They have a huge adult section that sells new toys (or so they say). This has always kinda squeaked me out. He says if you buy from someone with high feedback there's nothing to be worried about. So, would you buy a toy from eBay or does that make you uneasy? (Assume that it's new, not used.)

I considered it before I found Eden! Now only if it was something that I couldn't find on here!

No, I wouldn't buy a toy on eBay. I'd prefer to deal with a company I know I can trust, like Eden.

If the price is right and it's a company with a good reputation, why not? I've bought toys on Amazon with great results. ...just not used ones, though. EW.

I'm overall weary of things on ebay..and sex toys would be no exception. I like to buy from a place I trust more, and that I feel like I am protected more with a standard return/exchange policy, not something that differs seller to seller. I'll pay more and be more at ease with my purchase

The idea just frightens me, no matter how possible it is to clean said toys. Not only is ebay scary, but .. yow.

Let me clarify that I don't even mean used toys, just in general. I always clean my toys before I use them when I get them, and the idea of ebay just makes me shudder.

I bought a nice glass plug off a pretty nice store on ebay. Transaction went smoothly and the gorgeous plug arrived in a wonderful super padded storage pouch. Overall I was pretty pleased with it. Someone I know said they had great success buying off ebay so I tried it!

AU ebay doesn't sell toys. They shut down the toy section on another AU auction site too.

if it was sealed....

Maybe, if it was sealed and the seller seemed reputable, but I don't know if I would want something like that coming from a source I didn't trust.

I wouldn't buy one from a regular individual seller, but I would (and have) bought toys from reputable, established stores on eBay. They have hundreds of thousands of feedback left, and everything they sell is brand new. Never even thought twice about it. It's no different than buying something from a place like Eden.

I have in the past. Mainly I was looking for some discontinued products. Doesn't bother me as long as the seller has a good feedback rating.

As long as it was silicone, glass or stainless I would. Don't think I would buy a vibe though unless there was a guaranty.

I would always wonder where the toy had been lol I take descriptions on eBay with a grain of salt, I've been burned too many times.

I regularly bid and buy on my national auction site. How else would I get my Acute, my Amethyst and my Delight? The first two aren't sold in regular sex shops in Poland. The third costs +$100. Right now most of my toys are from the auction site - bought from small distributors. So either Eden starts shipping to Poland or I will have to continue like that hoping for my situation to change.

If it were something that could be completely sterilized, then possibly. But I also know how easy it is to take something entirely out of the packaging and put it back together without it looking like anything ever happened, so I don't put much stock in anything actually being "new" on eBay unless it comes from a manufacturer who was also selling there, as well as on their own site.

Unopened, but I know that could have been just carefully opened and resealed. It was an NJoy Pure Plug so I wasn't really concerned, since stainless steel is something that could be completely sterilized even more so than silicone.
If however it had come out of the PRC then I might have been concerned that it may have been radioactive like I'd heard some items out of the former USSR were.

No. Chances are that it can be found on EF, or at the very least, another website with a nice return policy.

I have on occasion. Several new Lelo products from someone with many available and obliviously a dealer.

Most recently we bought a Tantus Captain long since discontinued here and well review.

A quick boil and all was well!

Ebay stuck me with a 90 dollar bill when a car I sold was never picked up. I will never sell or buy anything through them. I also had a guy stiff me on an oil pump I bought for a car, I provided the email with proof that the guy lied and told me "so what I wasnt happy with the reserve so I pulled the auction after it was over" and they did nothing at all to him. Im all about amazon myself.

I think the only way I'd buy a toy from ebay is if the manufacturer or a reputable but small sex shop was selling through it. I've never personally seen one do it, but I've seen other types of stores do it with things like high quality linens. Granted, I doubt I'd look for toys on ebay in the first place. But. Anyways. If I ever did, that would be how I'd do it. There would be no random seller take-your-word-for-it for me!

I've never used eBay, and probably wouldn't start to buy a sex toy.
