I was in a Northeastern US state, where the purchase age was 18. I had just recently started having sex, and I made the discovery that sex toys weren't just gag gifts, they were actually things you could masturbate with! I got really excited, but I didn't want to get my hopes up. I decided to spend as little money as I could. I couldn't get to a sex toy store without a crazy trip, so I ordered online. Being the bargain shopper I was, I found the cheapest toy I could easily hide: a bullet. That ran on watch batteries. That I bought on ebay. Yes, really. It only lasted a month, and I ran through so many watch batteries that month, but I was hooked. While I'm much more careful now, I actually still occasionally buy toys on ebay (when my budget is particularly tight). It turns out there are a few brick-and-mortar stores that sell their overstocks on ebay and amazon. But ever since, I've always had a bullet like that in my collection. I can hide them in my bra if I have to when I travel.

I don't remember exactly when it was. I know I was in my early 20's. My husband talked me into going to a sex shop with him over the border in Wisconsin. We lived in Illinois then. As I've said many times, I was always into BDSM, from a very young age. I didn't even buy my first whip. I took it from my father when I was about five or so. I actually bought my own handcuffs when I was aroung seven or so, and I really started getting into things when I was eleven or twelve.

I bought mine when I was 14/15 at a Spencer's. It was one of those long, clunky and VERY noisy hard plastic dealies that took C batteries. It was an icky yellow color and glowed in the dark (kind of). But it served me well and soon enough I was putting on lippy and trying to look as grown-up as possible and purusing sex shop. I never got ID'd.

Sex stores also state that you need to be 18 or older to buy, but when I have gone to them, they never asked for ID or proof of age.
In fact, I think the law in every state says that you need to be 18 to buy them. Some states require 21. Others they are even banned.
Deception wasn't my intention. Plus I never said I bought a toy here on EF under 18; I said the cards worked here, meaning if someone was under 18 and wanted to buy a toy here at EF, then it would work.

I wasn't sure how to answer this poll because my first "sex toy" wasn't exactly supposed to be a sex toy.... it was a back massager which I somewhat modified as a very young girl by putting a washcloth over the "nubs" which might otherwise pinch in a bad way and securing it with a rubber band.
