If the lasting too long is a concern for sex, he may not want to desensitize with toys. But if it's a concern just during masturbation, then a toy may definitely provide him with a different feeling and get him off faster. There could be a number of reasons for this situation. A Fleshlight is a lot more like the real thing than using nothing, so that might be a pleasant switch but it will probably not solve any problems. That being said, his methods could also come into play here as well. Porn is something else he could try. That might elevate and stimulate the mental aspect of the situation.

The problem is that he currently may be ALREADY desensitized, that's what the others are suggesting - that he should take a break from masturbation, or add in other thing during intercourse to make his orgasm come a bit quicker.
