The first time I did it on purpose was maybe 13-14. I've never been able to orgasm from hands/non-vibrating toys alone, so I tentatively think my first orgasm was earlier this week with my new toy.

I don't really remember anything from when I was 5 or younger, so it's entirely possible.

18 the first time I tried it, decided it wasn't worth my time and only revisited masturbation years later at 20-21, when I finally figured it out by accident.

I think for the most part those statistics are based on children touching themselves out of curiosity, not for sexual gratification, and thus I find it hard to consider that masturbation.

I masturbated just about every day in 3rd grade through to the end of elementary school, less so throughout middle school but still regularly. I always orgasmed but my orgasms got stronger later on, naturally. I do remember that I didn't start "getting wet" until after I'd been masturbating externally for a few years, and I remember not liking it at all. I was still masturbating through my underpants at that time so body fluids made things messy. I didn't like having to clean up afterward. I think that may have been what dissuaded me from masturbating every day in middle school.

The first time I masturbated I was maybe 13 and I didn't reach orgasm because when I started to feel really hot and aroused down there, my brain perceived it as pain rather than pleasure and I freaked out. I didn't try again until I was 14 and dating a guy who was two years older than I was, and I knew he was sexually active before me, so it made me wonder what an orgasm was like. That time I orgasmed.

Around age 4 or 5. And I wasn't molested, for the record. Don't assume things about an entire group. While that may be the case for many, it is not the case for all.
