Where you ever tested for HIV/STDS/AIDS?

Contributor: Valentinka Valentinka
It's not necessary that you can get AIDS only from another person. There is always a possibility to get infected at the hospital, in a beauty salon, making a tattoo etc.
As for me, I was tested once - before the surgery. Also I got tested for STDS not long ago, because I was suspicious about my health. They found nothing serious, just yeast infection. So I'm clean and don't need to worry Testing is good

I got tested once when I was in the hospital for a different health issue. Always good to know where you stand.

It's a very good habit, especially if you're not committed monogamous.

I'm not very promiscuous so I dont worry too much about it. I guess I should just in case though.

Yes, with each pregnancy and when beginning each new relationship I was ever in, along with the one time I had a condom break with a partner (also did a Plan B then too)

I'm pretty responsible about keeping up with them. I have kids and I want to be around for them. I can't imagine giving The Husband something, either!

Me too. Even though I use condoms religiously, I still get the full battery of tests after every partner (and I had one before I lost my virginity too).

So that's five times and counting for me. Never tested positive for anything.

I've been tested several times. Usually following high risk events (e.g assaults and the like), but I get tested for everything, regardless of relationship status. Especially since one of my best friends who had been in a "monogamous" relationship for many years turned up with an STI, because her boyfriend was cheating.

I get tested once a year to be on the safe side. Even tho all the partners I'm with at the time are always monogamous. Better safe then sorry.

I couldn't answer because there wasn't an option for me, but yes I have been tested once. I've only been with the same partner and I was his first as well, so it's not a concern.

the easiest way to look at it is to consider a regular part of your annual exam

Ok I know I've had pap tests as part of my regular exam, and I'm on birth control. I've never asked specifically for any STD tests, though, so I don't know if any of those are included (will probably ask next time).

I've only been with 2 guys, both using protection, 1 was a virgin, too. So I'm not WORRIED, just wouldn't hurt to take the extra precaution.

Neither of us have ever been tested because we were virgins before we started dating and we were each others' firsts for everything. We've always been monogamous so it hasn't been an issue.

I get tested for STI/STDs regularly, about once a year in a committed relationship, and when changing partners. I also insist my partners also get regularly tested and have the documentation of disease-free status -- and am able to provide my own if asked, too.

I usually get it done during my pap smear, as he's already down there sticking things in the snatch, he may as well take some swabs for bacterial cultures too.

I like it a bit rough, and sometimes there's blood involved, so it's really important to me to be sure that both me and my partner are clean.

I go every six months. The people at the county health department (it's cheapest there) are still confused why I'm there having never had anything and not suspecting that I have caught anything. Kinda sad that people are shocked by responsibility...

Mainly because being married doesn't mean you aren't cheating or being cheated on!
I get tested once a year unless something comes up that makes me think I should get tested again.

My answer isnt in the poll. I've only been tested once for anything. Plan to again soon. So I have been tested but not multiple times. And was negative for everything

Back when I was still single and sexually active, I got tested apx once a year. Now that I'm married, I don't see the need.

I think it's good to get tested once a year or so. I've had the same partner for over 3 years, but I still get tested. You just never know, especially about viral infections that may not show up until later.

I think its a good idea to be tested after every partner better to be safe than sorry. Especially if the partner has not been faithful to you. I learned that lesson years ago luckily I was and am negative.

Yes I have been tested and still get tested regularly. I'm in a 100% monogamous relationship, but I still get tested when I go for my pap smear and all. Hate em' but they're too important to skip up with cervical and other cancers being so on the rise. I've never actually had an std or HIV or any thing, but still think it's important for everyone to get tested no matter what. I mean I'd rather get tested even knowing there's a teeny tiny chance I could have something rather than just skip. Too many people just assume they don't have anything and end up spreading it. Especially when it's contracted and doesn't show up or show any signs for years. Too scary for me.
