I have to say that I am lucky that no one in my close family has had breast cancer (that I know of), but we had to deal with other types of cancers. But then, they were cancers that didn't have a visual impact on someone's looks.

Having to lose a breast must be very hard on self-esteem and self-love too, and I hope everyone who goes through this has all the positive support they can get from their friends and families.

I am exceptionally fortunate to not have breast cancer -- or any cancer, really -- in my family. As my parents become older and my partner and I hit that age where mammograms and prostate exams are encouraged, I regularly pray that trend continues and do all I can to support awareness.

Sending good thoughts, prayers and love out to all who are affected -- and mad thanks to all those who have been pulling together around here for BCA month!

My wife is a 19 year breast cancer survivor. She had a lumectomy, followd with chemo and radiation. She has been clean ever since, but still gets regualr mameograms as checks.
Unfortunately, it did throw her into premature menopause at about 45.

Several women in my church have survived breast cancer. Don't forget to pray for those dealing with it!

I was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ fresh out of University. I had a partial mastectomy at the age of 22 and followed with hormone therapy. Now 28, I am only just coming out the other end.

I am a survivor, surviving.

My mom has had breast cancer twice, my sister and i are 28 and 23, and we are very proactive in searching/feeling/chec king, thinking about when to book early mammogram for a baseline image for future tests.

My great aunt died of breast cancer, and I am always thinking about people who have to go through and defeat this struggle.
