Home birth or Hospital birth

I've done both. Hate, hate, hated the hospital birth. Lots of scare tactics, unnecessary interventions, etc. There were people in and out of my room, poking and prodding me all the time. They kept me on my back (uh... can we say bad idea???), constantly badgered me to have my son circumcised (no means no now stop asking!), and whisked my baby away and didn't bring him back for HOURS (helloooo postpartum depression!) The homebirth was much nicer. The midwife, in addition to all the normal and urine tests, even took into account my diet, stress level, emotional health, and all those little things that can affect your health. Honestly, the homebirth without drugs hurt so much less and than hospital with drugs.

What so many people don't know is that a PROPERLY TRAINED, CERTIFIED, AND COMPETENT MIDWIFE can recognize emergencies and either fix them herself or manage them until emergency help arrives. For us it was the best and safest, yes, safest, option in our area. It wasn't for "the experience" or to be closer to mother earth or because it is "how it used to be." We researched and contemplated and made an informed decision.

i was born at home and my mom would kill me if I planned on an epidural, I don't have kids yet but I find it really hard to imagine doing it at home- only because I'm a wimp for pain but she insists that epidurals are too dangerous

I don1't have any kids yet although I plan to start trying in a year or so depending on my fiance and I's job situation. I plan to have all hospital births. My hope is to go as natural as possible...maybe some help with pain through the IV but I do not want an epidural.

We don't have any children (yet), but I'd like to give birth in a birthing home (is that what they're called?). I want a natural birth.

I think the term you're looking for is a birth center.

I don't have any children yet, but after seeing the documentary "The Business of Being Born" on Netflix, I'm definitely having a home birth.

I just had my Third baby at home, which makes that my second successful home birth. it was a picture perfect birth, done in 2 and a half hours, No tearing or bruising or blood loss.
It was hard as hell to do But I did it and I'm super proud of myself
After I pushed my baby out I called out "I F*cking did it". everyone in the room laughed I didn't even realize what I had said till I was later reminded.
Any women that have home births are brave and confident in there body and mind. You have to be! if you arnt then it's best to be in the hospital.

Yes! same here, I have no experience with this, but I am really drawn towards home births. If anyone is interested in the document watch "the business of being born". It's a great documentary that really puts the facts out there.
