How do you feel about labiaplasty?

My wife has long inner lips and I wouldn't want her to do a thing with them. I enjoy them and her for who she is. If she was to get them "fixed" I would be hurt.

I wouldn't let my little girl ever do it, but for anyone else, it's not really my business. Someone in my family, however, if they were to discuss wanting this with me, I would tell them to ask themselves if it's worth the money as well as going under the knife. If they feel that it is, then that's their decision to make, not mine.

Maybe I sound completely stupid by saying this, but I have never seen anyone's vagina look like that. I'm being fully honest. Are those extreme variances in the person's labia that need to be dealt with? Because that's a separate issue completely.

I couldn't tell you--you'd have to ask the individual women.

Plenty of women have longer inner labia. Labia come in all shapes and sizes; personally, I only have 1/2 of an inner labia. So I'm missing 1 1/2 inner labia!

I think it's a choice the woman should have but not purely out of vanity rather than for health reasons or problems when having sex. I personally wouldn't do it but I don't have a problem with how I look at all, sometimes I think my inner labia is too small compared to my outer but everyone is built differently.
If it was a problem for me and inhibited me from doing things normally, I don't see why not. To me it's sort of like the issue of breast reductions. If it's causing problems then the person is better off doing it and having something less to worry about.

Yes, of course. I understand what you mean. I just personally have never seen that. It's quite true that everyone is built differently.

I agree with this. If you are born with a dis-figuration and you are not being reckless by getting the surgery then more power to you to change the things you can. It is your body, so it is your choice if you want plastic surgery. It is your choice to make yourself look like cat woman too...but it is also my choice to make fun of some of it.

While I frown upon this kind of stuff especially if you caused the problem in the first place (too many sexual partners/sex in general, not taking care of yourself, etc.-I have no sympathy), some people are born with things like this and it affects their mental health. Some things are also natural, like from child birth etc. I would support a friend if she wanted this surgery for these reasons.

I don't understand a lot of plastic surgery though. For example, I would not support breast implants for women with perfectly adequate breasts, but are still insecure. To me, by getting a boob job, you are just advertising your insecurities for all to see now and putting your self in danger for future health problems. I don't see it as worth it and trust me I have hated my body at times. Not worth it.

Whatever women choose to do with their own bodies is OK, though I would hope they make their choices fully informed, and for the right reasons. It is too bad that there's pressure for women to feel that their labia must look a certain way. Each body is different, and each body is beautiful.

It's a free country!

As long as you can pay the bill - whether it's a face lift, boob job, lipo-suction, circumcision, piercing it's your choice.

There is no shortage of people who think sex toys are wrong - we don't happen to agree. If a woman wants a boob job or a tighter labia - why is that anyone else's business?

I think I'm in that land of not feeling a need for it myself but also not feeling that I have any right to make a moral judgement on someone else's choices. My body, my choices. Their body, their choices.

I've considered it. My inner labia are really uneven, one is much larger than the other, and it does get caught on things or chafe uncomfortably sometimes. I've often dreamed about trimming it back to match the other one not for prettiness' sake, though sometimes I worry that he doesn't like it, but just because I would prefer it that way.

Right now the cost and the risk involved is what is keeping me from going through with it. If I could be guaranteed that my sexual sensation would not change for the worse, I think I would find the money to do it.

I would lever do this. Wonder if you realize that doing this is like cutting off perfect erogenous areas.

Mrs. Greek is considering, but for health reasons(irritation) after 2 kids things can change a little. I'm on board if it will improve her day to day well being and comfort-ability. That being said, I love the kitty just as it is.

As a nurse in Women's Health I have never HEARD of a "large" labia causing "health problems." Not really a real diagnosis.

Just as all women have asymmetrical breasts, all women have asymmetrical labia. Some women in the Sex Industry have had orgasm issues and pain with intercourse due to botched "labiaplasties" and as someone who has campaigned against Female Genital Mutilation, I can only see labiaplasty as an other form of this.

Your pussy is FINE the way it is!!!!

Your mielage may vary.

Labiaplasty is quite common and necessary with adult film stars. Porn star Houston actually sold her labia trimmings, encased in lucite, to a lucky bidder. Jenna Jameson has had hers done...most of the time it's out of necessity, especially for these women because of the work they do. Now, for us normal women, it may be self-esteem, especially when we see these stars with such tight pussies, but a lot of work goes into making them look so appealing. We need to understand and accept that every vagina is different. But I think labiaplasty is okay, I just hope that when it's being done, it's for necessity rather than looks.

Blinker, I know labioplasty is common with adult film workers, but "necessary?" Why would it be necessary? They do it to look like everyone else. My Man and I favor "Vintage" porn from the 70s and 80s, and the women are not only often sometimes slightly more furry, but their labia look.....normal. It's just a style or fad, I bet if a really popular and well known adult film worker refused to have her genitalia cut up, the "more natural" look would catch on.

Appealing is due to what is the fad of the hour. If normal looking labia were seen more in professional porn, it wouldn't seem "unappealing." In fact, this is one of the many reasons some people prefer amateur porn to more professional film.

I love classic porn for these reasons. It was so much more natural.

I think it is 100% for the person doing it. If they feel that is something they want or if it is for health reasons, then go for it. We all make a variety of choices in our life, especially with our "appearance" in mind. Everyone is free to do what they choose. Who am I to hate on that?

I think it's kind of silly to do it unless it's causing or is a health issue. This is probably just because I've never thought about it for myself. But I don't see why women would want to reconstruct their body like that.. I think women take for granted how beautiful they really are. A lot of the girls I've dated had no self esteem and for the life of me I couldn't figure out why.

I voted other because while I think it's wrong, and I wouldn't have it done, my personal opinion has nothing to do with anyone other than myself. If a woman feels better about her body after getting plastic surgery, and she then goes on to live a happier life, more power to her. I just wish we lived in a world where women didn't feel so insecure about their bodies.

my thoughts on labiaplasty.. OUCH! I have always felt that my labia are way too big. It has ran through my mind about labiaplasty quite often. Luckily everyone i have been with says that they love the way i am. Apparently there is more to suck on and tease

I used to be a little embarrassed of my labia, but I've become more grown fond of them. I rarely am annoyed by their length. Maybe it's because I choose softer panties? The only time they usually get in the way are, as Naughty Student said, during intercourse with minimal lubrication. My significant other said that they could provide a little protection against intruders and I agreed. It does takes time to get in sometimes. But he's become pretty good at handling them. Having a girlfriend with large labia seems like it could be a lot of fun. I would never get mine trimmed. I enjoy the feelings I have there and I'd be scared of those feelings going away.

Sometimes I see really ugly, cruel words about long labia. I really hate the misconception about long labia indicating a loose, "worn out" woman. I feel a need to fight this! I spend a lot of time in places where there are inexperienced young men, and as you might expect, they say the worst things. That tends to be the group that views my art, so I want to draw girls with varying amounts of labia. That nature gives us so much variety is a quite a blessing, I think and I hope some will agree.

I don't think labiaplasty should be illegal or limited--body modification is interesting to me. I bleach my skin, dye my hair funny colors and I'm happy I have that right. But I don't think people should be made to feel ashamed of the way they were born.

I don't think it's necessarily my place to dictate whether labiaplasty is or isn't okay for anyone other than myself. For me, it's not something I would do, but I can certainly see why someone else would want it.

I might get labiaplasty just for the hell of it when I get older. I think if you're getting it, you should strongly reconsider if it's not causing health issues (including psychological, which would stem from the whole self-esteem issue). If you're getting it because someone's coercing you to, then fuck them! They don't deserve your labia either way. But if it's just for you, then shoot, get it all done!

I have been with women who have problems enjoying sex due to over long labia (their lips tended to get caught and painfully "tugged" during penetration

I think that reducing the size of the labia is always wrong. Large or long labia are beautiful, and should be left as they are.
