I have to agree with you there. Plain and simple.

Hell yes! And under age 18! It is normal for children as young as babies to experiment with their bodies, and there is nothing gross about that. It should not be shamed upon. We all experiment. As long as pediphilia is not acceptable then what is wrong with a teenager or even a child getting to know their own body? GREAT POST!@

What a great question!!! I think women should be able to masturbate without people thinking its weird or gross. I started at like 14 or so but didn't start with toys till after I moved out of my parents house..

Females like males should be able to masterbate at the age they please to. And in my opinion. Both sexes should be taught about it! That its a great way of learning a little about our own body!

It would probably cut down on a lot of social issues we face, if it weren't such a taboo.

Love this post and the responses. I believe that masturbation should be socially accepted and even encouraged.

I don't think it should be taught, mostly because there are many ways to masturbate and many ways to orgasm, and it would be a shame for someone to think something is "wrong" with them because they don't enjoy masturbating the way they were taught was normal.

I voted no outside of marriage becuase of my personal beliefs, however I do not think less of anyone who thinks and does differently than I do. I will say if it is socially acceptable for a guy it does need to be socially acceptable for a girl.

Allowing males but not females is sickening sexism. Anyone who wishes to masturbate, regardless of age, should be able to. It's very healthy and especially for younger people, it's a great alternative to becoming sexually active. I don't understand why you need to be 18 to buy sex toys, I (and most other people I know) have been masturbating since they were young teens, and we just used not-so-safe alternatives because we couldn't get SAFE toys!

Masturbation is a method of learning about your own body and is perfectly normal and natural. However I do not agree about young girls using vibrators and other sex toys. I just don't think it is necessary. Fingers/shower head are more than enough for beginners masturbation. Toys a great when you are a little older and more experienced, but using a sex toy from the beginning can mess up one's ability to enjoy real sex.

This is how I feel too. I try to teach my kids (who are both boys, FWIW) that your penis/testicles etc are part of your body and should be kept to yourself and you should not touch other people's (they are 7 and 8) and if I catch them kind of touching it or rubbing it or whatever, I simply tell them they need to do that in private and not in front of people. Basically, if you want to rub your junk, there's nothing wrong with it, but please do it in private.

And as far as females go, I was never taught it was shameful or anything, and though I didn't have toys, I found plenty of "makeshift" toys lol.

I don't even know where to begin in wording my response. I chose other because I believe that everyone should be taught that masturbation is okay and safe sex should be preached about, but I'm not so sure that I would be comfortable with people *teaching* someone how to masturbate. It just screams creepy to me. It's self-exploration, not something that can be taught. We're all different, need different things and have different desires.
