A good place to hide your vibrator might be in a closet, tucked away somewhere out of sight in a plastic baggie or other bag, or under a bed, under a dresser, or under a nightstand (not inside, under). I'm not sure exactly how thorough your mother is with looking around, but any of these places should make it so that she doesn't find it and throw away.

Aside from this though, you might want to have a talk with your mother about the fact that you do own a vibrator and try to make her understand. That would be a better route, and would make it easier for you so that you don't feel unsafe with it being in your room.

What concerns me here is the fact you're 19 and your mom goes and looks around in your room. To me that either shows she's really controlling, or you've broken her trust by hiding things before and since you live at home she has a right to look in your room. My dad is the same, (and I'm 22), if he suspects me of anything bad, he will go through my stuff. Though I think he suspects I have things since I have a lot of talks with his gf, so I guess he figures so long as I'm not bringing men home or out until 2 am, I must be okay.

Regardless, I don't think the talk with your mom has to be about the vibrator, but about trust. There's trust issues going on here. And sorry to say, but past 18 it's a privledge to be living at home--I knew some people who as soon as they were 18, their parents gave them the boot, and most were not bad kids, just their parents said they had to be on their own now.

Kinda harsh if you ask me.

If it's a smallish toy, you can also try hiding it in the pocket of one of the jackets hanging in your closet. Just be sure you remember to move it somewhere the next time you use it! You could also put it in a cloth bag and just carry it in your purse. That's assuming that nobody had a habit of going through your purse, of course.

I do agree with the others when they say it's time to have a talk with mom though.

I'm 19 years old as well, and a college student, so I know exactly the dismay you are facing. At one point, my step-brother found my vibrator stash and showed all of his friends

I have hid vibrators in my purse, in closet drawers that were full of panties and other covering items, in the backs of desk drawers, inside of a large sock, in a school bag, inside of a pillow case . . . If you have very, very nosy parents or siblings, then this could be a bit more difficult. Perhaps a box that has a label on it for something else that wouldn't seem suspicious in your room. You could also set things up high, on top of furniture in your bedroom that people don't move - this might make it hard for you to access your toy, but it would cancel the fear of your mom throwing it away.

P.S. Your mother would throw it away??? Masturbation is natural and healthy - she needs to allow you some more privacy and understanding! Better that she knows you enjoy pleasing yourself rather than her imagining you out having sex with someone. Maybe you underestimate her and she wouldn't react as poorly as you think she might. Regardless, you should bring up the subject (even if it's not in relation to yourself) and see where her feelings lie. Make a joke about vibrators, or ask innocently if she's ever tried a vibrator in her life, depending on what kind of woman she is. Good luck!

I keep my toys in my closet, in the FedEX or UPS or USPS box (well packaged and cared for) then i threw over a coat over the boxes, and if someone finds them, I'll just ask them what the hell they were doing in my closet, and ring their necks.

But that is just me, It might not work for everyone, and probably no doubt my leaving mates curiosity has been peeked... Its so unusual that I am receiving so many "Books" and "DVDs" at such a pace now a days... haha anyway... I wouldn't be happy, but Its my money, my time.. there is worse things for a 21 year old guy to be doing.

You could always try out some of these fancy 'movie style' hiding places, like hollowing out a book, a fake electrical socket, or a secret compartment behind a painting. When I was in high school, I hid porn underneath the bottom drawer of a filing cabinet, this could probably work with a dresser too.

It's a shame that you have to hide your stuff. I do keep my stuff locked up and out of the way, but quite honestly, I'm 99% sure my family members all know what it is and just don't ask.

One of my friends keeps her toys hidden under her tabletop, as the table top lifts up. A male friend of mine has two small dildos, which he keeps in jacket pockets in the back of his closest. And another female friend of mine uses a small tacklebox (which is what I used to use), which I think looks relatively inconspicuous and mundane.

Depending on the number of toys you have, you may also want to invest in a For Your Nymphomation case. The cases lock, and a decent number of them could pass for make-up bags.

I know this probably wouldn't work for sex toys, or at least anything big, but have you ever seen one of the 'stash' containers that is made from a bottle of water? They are crazy!

I store mine in plastic then in a bag with a pull string. I have a hat box and satin bags at the top shelf of my closet. I would recommend gift box wine cylinders for dildos or vibrators. Large storage boxes or velvet lined jewelry boxes. Think stylish...decorative and maybe false door. Also a safe or something with a lock and key.
Best of pleasure and discreet storage.

I'm also a college student who had a similar problem... my mom doesn't go through my stuff, but she will occasionally pick things up or go looking something and i didn't want her to find any sex toys. i keep mine in a large pencil box i've had in my room for ages. it's good to use a box or container that you've always had in your room, and put it out of the way.
that'll work if she's just casually looking around, but i think the real problem is that she goes searching through your stuff... you should really talk to her about that.

Ok, you permanently attach the pencil box to the desk. Then you put a fake bottom in the pencil box that goes into a secret stash area inside the desk. I am picturing some 'get smart' type setup

If you have a jacket or coat in your closet with a deep enough pocket, slip it in there. Also, you could tape a suitably sized open-top box on the back of one of the pieces of furniture. You will have to use a lot of duct tape and make sure the box is strong enough to hold the vibrator yet light enough that the duct tape can hold the weight of the box and the vibrator.

You have to find a balance between hard to find and hard to get to. I found that putting it in an innocuous box, like a box for an alarm clock or something like that works well. Tuck that in your closet, and you should be fine.

Think about your hobbies and hide it with hobby stuff. Sewing- put it with the fabric. Crafts - with the materials. Etc. Usually that's hard to clean.

Inside a decorative pillow.

A cheap metal cash box with a lock and key marked 'Bills'.

Inside an empty box of tampons.

Mine's inside a paper towel roll in my nightstand, which isn't unusual since I frequently do manicures/pedicures in my room.

And say to mummy dearest - "Since you go through my stuff, can I go through your stuff, too? It's only fair if we're not going to respect boundaries." (Well, probably not this tactless, but you get the idea.)

Good luck.

The pillow idea is good. There is a pillow I know some company makes where it's actually zippered with a secret pouch inside. Not sure if they have it here, but you could search the internet...it's called "secret stash pillow" I think...

UG, I two of my kids are in their early 20s and one thing I have never done is go through their stuff. My Mom used to go through my stuff and it really pissed me off, as I never (got caught) doing anything she needed to do this for. She is a control freak.

Anyway, an old trick from the 70s, which we used to use to store our stash. Get a hardback REALLY boring book, a thick one. (You can go to the second hand store and pick one out, just make sure it isn't musty. That is bad for your toy.) Start gluing the pages together, when it dries and when you get the book down to some turning pages in the front and a few in back and the rest a solid mass, take a strong sharp cutting tool and make a stash box IN the middle of the book. That way you will have a little box, that looks like a book on your shelf.

In the Old Days we used to store our stash this way, but if your toy isn't too big, you could put that in there.

Good titles would be Advanced Engineering Mathematics, The History of Adhesives, Evolution of the Alan Wrench, Great British Recipes, Peterson's Guide to Fish in the Midwest etc.

Good luck. Make sure the glue is completely DRY before you try to store anything in your book. Sobo glue is a good one to use, as it is less likely to warp the pages, but any good glue for paper will do.

Your mom definitely needs to respect your privacy. I still live at home, so I know what it's like to have to hide toys...plus I have two cats that I don't want to find chewing on my dildo anytime soon. I stash them anywhere. Usually I bury them in the laundry basket in my room, hide them in my underwear drawer, under the mattress, in my purse or makeup case. Get creative!

Wow, been a while for this thread. I was going to say I ended up buying this for some of my toys, mostly silicone 'abnormal' ones (non-human, etc.), but a different brand: link

I got mine from Home Depot, the Husky brand. This is basically the same thing, bought it when I bought a 22 in toolbox (also by Husky) for all my paint supplies, so my dad thinks I keep paints/crafts/etc in it. (The 22 in is literally FULL of acrylics, though!)

If it's small enough you can put it in your tampon box in the bathroom. That's where I put my small ones. Or under your mattress.

At some of those little quirky stores they sell fake aerosol cans and things like that to hide things in.

The fake aerosol cans are good for stash or really small toys, but the inside is pretty small. I used to work at a Head Shop years ago, where we sold them, and they hold less than you think, particularly the ones which have the heft and noise of a real can.

If she only had a bullet or small butt plug, that might work well, but anything larger won't fit.

I used to keep mine wedged between the mattress and the box spring...wayyy back in. But, I never had parents who actually snooped, so I am not sure if they did snoop if they'd have found it there. Probably if they are snooping to try to find something that you don't want them to find they'll know to look under the mattress as it's a pretty common hiding spot I think.

I've never really had to worry about snoops where I've lived. The roomies I've had know about Eden and don't WANT to find some of the things I have stashed away!

The problem with this is that the people most likely to pick those titles up are the people you probably least want to find out what's inside.

Hahaha! You have a point! I'd pay to see the look on their faces, though.

Hey, I took "Advanced Engineering Mathematics" from My Man's bookshelf (and made the rest up, except for the fish guide, which is also my husband's) He LOVES sex toys!

That's so rude for her to be looking around in your personal belongings! I would put it in a locked safe! So sorry you have to deal with this! I used to as well, and finally my mother just stopped. It's so rude!

I saw a locking sex toy suitcase its very well made with locks...it can be used for travel too I don't think anyone will bother with it do u ?

it is pricy but so well made. link

the woman who designed this said it was made especially for young adults still living at their parents and eliminates the question "is that a sex toy storage box" ?

If you have a snooper on your hands, hiding it is only putting off the inevitable. I would get a storage trunk or box with a lock on it. A big fat combination lock. Doesn't have to be a box made specifically for sex toys because those are probably going to be a lot more expensive. They put this sort of thing on sale during back to school season for college students going to live in the dorms. Couldn't hurt to have one anyway.

Also, I'd move out ASAP because her adult daughter's sex life is none of her business. You could try having a talk with her about the snooping, but I don't think she's likely to stop. Maybe you could write her notes about how it really hurts your feelings that your mother can't trust you to be an adult with a private life and hide them in "private places" around your room. "Mom, it breaks my heart that you feel like you need to snoop around in my bedroom. If you are looking for something, just ask me about it. I feel like you don't trust me, and it really hurts." Could be worth a try.
