It would begin with my end of high school/early college experiences called "Confessions of a Technical Virgin" then "The Art of Sexiling" "Long-distance Relationships aka Thank God ... more
I must read anything titled "Masturbation and Mini-fridges"

I am very fond of the term 'sex-positive'. I warm up when I read it; it tells me that this person cares about the issues, can handle an adult discussion (with or without giggling), and is passionate about learning more. I love meeting people that want to elevate the head to places the body may go, and vice versa (my favorite kinds of writing always pace the bridge between carnality and intellect).

It is interesting to see where this intersects with feminism. A feminist is not inherently sex-positive, I've found. The sex-positivity comes from a personal place, and how one feels about themselves, as well as how they have the right to interact with others. Feminism still leads as an ideal. But is sex-positivity inherently feminist?

I love them! And I totally want to read anything that involves "Masturbation and Mini-fridges!" (Total tangent here, but I hate it when people spell it "frig.")

Excellent point about feminism and sex-positivity, CLP. I think both Violet's and Carol's books explore the feminist aspect of sex-positivity within the framework of a society that is often anti-sex and anti-woman.

I always love reading Violet Blue for this. It isn't just something that's nice; for her, it is a requirement.

She does, and she also includes a section on how to protect your computer from viruses and such while you're doing so. WITH some suggestions for freeware programs.

That's a great question. I say yes, sex-positivity is inherently feminist. Of course, there would be people who are feminists and would disagree.

For me, feminism is about the freedom to choose my own path, regardless of what that path may be—nobody has the right to dictate it for me. Sex-positivity is, for me, that same ideal, focused on sex.

At the heart of both philosophies is an ideal that says other human beings and their choices should be respected as what's right for them, if not for you.

I've been quietly lurking around while writing up a review I haven't read either of these but definitely want to get my hands on Violet Blue's book now. It's Sons of Anarchy time so I'm outta here, but I can't wait for our October meetings because I've read the books and I love the fantasy/fairy tale topic Goodnight all!

Ugh - it's killing me that I have both of these books somewhere and have been searching for them for weeks! I was super excited to read them and... put them up somewhere when my daughter came back from being away for the summer.

And now... gone. I hid them REALLY well!!! *sob*

I'm reading fairy tale lust right now, on the very first story, and it's great so far.

I know a lot of people who use "frig" and I guess it's because it's reFRIGerator-- there's no "d." But frig looks like it should be pronounced like friggin'.

I digress. As usual. Thanks for stabbing them in my honor.
