I liked a lot of them, but I think Gingerbread Man is quite possibly my favorite. It's not so heavy on the sex, but I felt like I could relate so much to the story, sort of, lol.
Wasn't that just a delicious story? (No pun intended... really!) I believe it was also Carol Hassler's first short story sale, so I was delighted to be able to publish her first! I loved the dream-like quality of the tale, and I love anything that involves food and a mystery!

You know honestly? I'm really not sure. The way my mind tends to work is that I remember the stories I really liked, and almost forget about the ones I wasn't as fond of.

I'm out of the loop, apparently. Where is Laurel?
I heard she was out of the office, but then I think I read a rumor somewhere that she was in an accident?...not sure. She could just be on vacation and I read something wrong.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that raised an eyebrow at that!

I loved it. More for the story part than the sex part. The sex was good mind you, but just the fact that I got so into the story was the part that got me. Towards the end I was actually ready to cry, lol

I think I had a harder time with In Sleeping Beauty's Bed because it was so flowery and romantically written - and all of the stories were written that way, as opposed to the variety I'm used to - so at a certain point I was looking for something more obvious or explicit. I think my brain is just better wired for variety in these things.

Me too. I'm curious to see what my fiance has to say about it, as we had the same feelings on a story in Mile High Club with what seemed like a 30 something year old with somebody under the age of 18. There were no real ages given, but the implied ages made us both a little squeamish, lol

I think it came at a time in my life where I was ready for more fairy tale language cause usually I don't like this sort of thing. I loved the "Ebony Horse" and the way she became a true humiliation slut after her adventures!

Ha! I think it was less about the orgasm as it was her being satisfied (in other words, happy). Fairy tales are quest stories, after all... and an erotic fairy tale has to have a kinky quest.

That makes sense. What I did like in that story was that it was constantly surprising and she definitely hit on a wide range of fetishes and topics, not just straight sex by any means.

True. Still, when read that she was searching for her 'relief'...it must have just come off odd to me. I still liked it though!

I can safely tell you that I didn't not like any of the stories, just that some were more memorable to me than others.

How about you? Which was your least favorite?

I loved "Ebony Horse," too. I think Mitzi's writing style is very well-matched with the fairy tale genre. And since she wrote all the stories herself (as opposed to having 18 different "voices" in Fairy Tale Lust), there might be a sense of continuity that makes the stories flow from one to the next more like a novel than a short story collection. Just my thoughts!

The reworking of the Taming of the Shrew in the story "Punished Pride" had me reading it aloud to Sigel who just kinda shook his head at the Czar's handling of the situation. LOL

Just want to say a quick hello to everyone. Thanks for inviting my "In Sleeping Beauty's Bed: Erotic Fairy Tales" to be part of the equation. Hope everyone who has read it enjoyed it! (I trust none of you are being pursued by giant turnips in your dreams... unless, of course, you wish to be!)

I'm afraid it's well past midnight here in Blighty and I need to head off to sleep soon. Thanks again for including my book, and I wish everyone lots of happy and sexy reading!

totally agree it was more of a flowing from one story to another rather than the sometimes jarring switching from one voice to another. Still I like the compendium type fairy books for just that change of voice.

Mitzi Szereto reminded me of a softer edged Tanith Lee. I loved her reworking of the Snow White, Rose Red story. Talk about sex laced and razor sharp!

I really wasn't fond of the stories that I really didn't understand what was going on tell the end; like Sleep Tight and The Return. I mean, they were really good stories, they just kind of ended weird, to me.

I think the one that was an excerpt (the name escapes me at the moment) might not have been the best choice to be included. I mean, I really did enjoy reading it, but it felt like it would have been more at home in a novel than in a book of short stories.

Thanks so much for coming by! I must admit, I haven't been dreaming of turnips, but that's not to say I didn't spend some waking time thinking about them. That and the image of the Prince with the glass slipper....

LOL - that quote on her profile on the contributor page is one of the FIRST things I saw when I started on EF and it's been a little stuck in my head ever since.

OMG and the way she raids her father's garden for hot pepper seeds to grind up for her loving prince??? That one had BOTH guys groaning and forbidding me anywhere near the Jalepenos!
