I always suggest that you write them down in an idea book. One of them will keep calling your name and that's the one you want to start with because that's the one you can't get out of your head. Many times, I've been able to use the other ideas as subplots.

I make lists. Once it's out on paper, then I can pick up one idea and work on it.

I try to do the same, but sometimes, I will write a story, erotica and not, and get them mixed up.
There was one day I had a really good tangent going in my head so I used the memo pad on my phone and wrote out this whole long article that I ended up having to email myself so I wouldn't have to keep backlighting the phone to copy by typing. It actually just published on the Cafe

I do for sure. I am like oh damn, I have to try that. It's always fun too. I am inspired by erotic acts in books and then try it out on my partner. The best part about it, he has no idea. He is not much of a reader like me, and he thinks I came ... more
You are a wise woman, Amanda. Nothing wrong with taking the credit. That's part of the reason we write such things!

I have a note book for every idea I have. I think right now, I have a total of 10. lol

Hey DP....That is a great question. I've actually worked on two poems at once and eventually found myself combining both into one. What was missing from one filled the other and it was totally by accident. But I think that you have to attack one at a time or at the very least give sufficient time to one project before going on to the other.

Choose the one that speaks the loudest to me and write it. Though at this stage in my career, I usually have several stories going at once.

I actually used to write erotica as part of my job (not this one!). If I got an idea, I would write as much as I could, or just jot down the basic premise and a few lines to remind me to get back to it later. There is usually one image that just jumps out at you. It can even be one word...

The wonderful thing about some of the erotica writers now are their great respect for story, the sizzle with the sex scenes, and the care they take with their characters. That's why I love some of the folks in the ERA. They care about storytelling.

Cole,

What was the most difficult and then the most rewarding part of editing your anthology?

I think it's 'cause I read so many erotic books. The ones that amuse me aren't the ones that just have good sex - they normally have an awesome plot that's really unique or a great romance or dilemma between the characters. Those are the ones I remember.

Great advice! I tend to take on too many projects at once too.. I'm usually too busy daydreaming about how I want everything to play out to get things done. Hey, I'm a Pisces. Gimme a break. >_>

I got in plenty of stories from all over the world. Germany, Spain, Thailand, and on and on. So many voices, so many viewpoints. The most rewarding part of the collection was putting them in a sense of order, making them sing, like a string of notes in a jazz bridge. I love that. I love arranging. I love editing.
