I was talking to a leather seamstress I met about ethics and working with leather. How do you feel about items made from recycled leather?

Recycling leather goods prevents more animals from dying to make new goods. When properly cared for leather can be very long lasting and have less of an environmental impact than manufacturing vinyls and other fake leathers.

No difference. It still came from a murdered animal.

An animal still died to make it, so I would personally feel uncomfortable with it. I wouldn't judge anyone else if they consciously made the decision to purchase and wear only secondhand leather though.

I would feel uncomfortable wearing leather regardless of whether it was recycled or not. I'm vegan because I want to limit the suffering done to animals, and leather is inherently painful for the animal it came from, no matter how many people have worn it.
