Easing into Anal Play

Contributor: BeeLeaveMe BeeLeaveMe
First of all I have a very important announcement: Just this morning my husband finally agreed to try some anal play. You have no idea what I had to let him do to me to get him to agree to try something I wanted to do. We kind of went back and fourth on this issue and he protested. So, when my hand got unusually close to his butt during a BJ he finally decided that he might be up for it.

I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to easy a very unconvinced man into anal.

Well, sliding a finger up his butt during a blow job (with his prior consent, of course) is a good way to start. Use some lube- I suggest Maximus- for this. If he likes that, invest in a good silicone butt plug like the Ryder, or another smaller silicone one. I'd stay away from jelly plugs, even though they're cheaper, for a number of reasons. If that goes well... there's really no limit to where you can explore from there. Figure out what he likes (thrusting, prostate stimulation, etc.) and work with it. Just remember to always use lube, be patient, let his body set the pace. Have fun!

Lucky!

I would suggest the silicone slims self-satisfier link because it's cheap, small, and it vibrates. I've found that vibration really adds a lot to the experience, for me, and I think it can also ease any discomfort. I know it's pink, but it's worth it. I have a review on my profile if you want to know more about it.

I have GOT to say GO YOU!!! Whenever my husband has engaged in anal play he's inserted toys himself or had me help him out a little. Last night when giving him a quite nice blow job, he asked me to... ya know... just slide my finger in.. and wow, it was one of the best nights we've ever had. It was sexy, it was hot... I loved every single minute of it and not only did it make him feel uber naughty but it brought us a little closer together. Maybe I shouldn't get so excited about it, but your finger can beat a toy any day... if you want a little plug I actually reviewed link .. it's a toy we both equally love and is just right for beginners... I'd like to pick up link when we get our bonus in October.

You know I have to say I'm a little nervous about the finger thing. I know that cleanliness is always on everyone's mind. It will be my first time doing this to a guy. I happen to think that I have a very clean butt and I take pride in keeping myself well groomed...men don't...or at least he doesn't! We have never had any poo issue but I have longer fingernails and I'm afraid of them scratching him or finding a surprise under them later. I guess these are normal fears. A little reassurance would be nice!

Oh and BTW Epiphora you were the first person I thought of when he said yes! But who knows it my be quite a long time until I purchase a strap on. We did look at them for a bit when we were at the toy store a few weeks earlier.

Any time M and I have used fingers on each other, the worst case scenerio for cleanliness is trace amounts, and that's without any special preparation beforehand. I always wear gloves just so that I don't accidentally get him with my fingernails (and so cleanup is easy afterwards), and he uses gloves on me for the same reason (well, that, and I have a fetish for gloves).

As long as you haven't got a latex sensitivity (and maybe there's non-latex gloves, I have no idea), gloves are definitely the way to go.

There are definitely latex gloves! It's the only kind they use in hospitals now.

I, too, always wear gloves. I buy latex though, because they tend to be a lot cheaper. I can get a box of 100 for around $4.

(*as an aside, my hospital is 100% laytex free, so they don't use laytex at all, only silicone.)

That's awesome. I'm at a few hospitals and I occasionally will run into latex. Very rarely, but every once in awhile it pops up. I'm glad they're making the transition.

I just realized I forgot the very crucial word.
I meant to write There are definitely non latex gloves.

Sorry!!!

So now that we're on the topic, does anybody know what the price difference is between latex and non-latex (silicone?) gloves?

I've never actually seen silicone gloves (except for kitchen use). I know all the hospitals I've been at use nitrile rubber gloves. Usually you'll find these non-powdered. Latex gloves tend to be thinner and much more elastic. Nitrile rubber gloves tend to be a little thicker and less elastic. Latex is still often used in surgery because you have more "feeling" through them. That's pretty much the medical breakdown, as I know it. Just for the differences between them.

As far as cost. I get mine very cheaply through a local store, but I went to drugstore(dot)com and for 100 latex gloves it was $7.99. For the nitrile it was $11.99. Those numbers sound pretty accurate.

I personally prefer powdered latex. I like the powder because my hand doesn't feel as sweaty and prefer the latex because They stretch more easily so I can get a glove that has a tighter fit without feeling restrictive. I also can feel more through it, which is helpful for prostate stimulation. You would want to avoid latex though if either of you has an allergy.

Sorry I got a little wordy. Hope that helps!

I'm not allergic to latex, and I'm not in a position where gloves work their way into my social life.

But, I have been to the hospital a great deal, and while I haven't specifically asked what brand they use, I do know that my particular hospital uses 2 grades of gloves, so that may be what I forgot when I commented last. I bet 1 is silicone and the other is nitrile. I do know for a fact, that it's a latex free zone (they even refuse to allow latex balloons to be delivered).

I've seen the nitrile rubber and on one occasion vinyl. It's amazing what they keep coming out with. I'll have to keep my eye out. Thanks for the heads up. Things are changing so fast it's hard to keep up with everything.

The balloons are all banned in my area as well. Flowers are on their way out as well. People are getting very creative with cards though!

Ok the latex thing is well...informative and all. Neither of us are allergic to latex but, I could see myself forming a nice fetish for gloves! Of course we have anal sex and fingering and all of that good stuff all the time. Never once in my entire life has he every but any of his body parts in my butt and poop has been on it. Like I said I guess I am just extremely clean down there...I don't know.

So I thought about it for a day or two and realized that it wouldn't gross me out anyways. Its just poo and its my husband. No big deal. So mostly I guess Im just asking if guys butts are any dirtier than womens? Yes, I know that sounds like a childish question but I was just wondering. I guess the best time to perform my very first fingering of my husband would be after a shower!

Non-powdered? Sweet.

I have allergies (no latex allergy though), and sometimes have allergic reactions to the powder in latex gloves. Sometimes I can find them un-powdered, and sometimes I can't.

Either way, I'm definitely going to check out the non-latex gloves. Thanks!

I'd definitely be interested--I'm on the lookout for black gloves that I can buy by the box.

This is sort of how I went about it with one of my male lovers. He'd had a bad experience with anal play before (a girl with long nails), and he automatically clenched when people got near his anus, which only made the process more painful. So I started talking to him about it beforehand to see if he'd be comfortable with it, and he said yes. Then, when I was giving him a blowjob, I slowly slipped a lubed pinky finger in to him. That's it; no more. A couple of days later, I went for the pointer finger, then I waited a while longer and went for the thumb, and then I finally used a thin and flexible anal toy. He never cared for anything BIG, but he became a total prostate-stimulation whore! =P

I just did a search. It doesn't look as if Eden sells gloves for anal play. It seems like a great product. Especially if it was in something more than a tacky cardboard box and a count of a couple hundred... Something easy to get to...

It the shower would be nice, or better yet have some good silicone lube and do it in a hot tub. I think cleanliness is really person to person, and not gender to gender, though in general women tend to care for themselves better than the typical male does. Neither of the long term lovers I've had were as clean back there as me, but I think it has to do more with me being extra neat and clean about personal hygiene and a proper diet. My first fiancee actually had dingleberries and left skid marks on the sheets, but he was a total and complete slob so it really wasn't a surprise (still uber gross though). My husband is pretty neat about his butt, but not totally clean and picky about the rest of his hygiene (like shaving or trimming his nails). While he stays fairly clean, he still sweats a lot down there during the day. Showers are mandatory before butt play in my house, and we use gloves purely to keep everything neat and clean without running to the bathroom to wash up.

Maybe an update on how things went?

I agree. I'd love to see gloves sold on here as well. Some different colors would be very nice, especially something in black. My husband doesn't like picking up gloves at the drug store, because he is convinced the checkout person knows why we buy them. He has no problems buying condoms though...

I couldn't help but giggle at the "check out person knows why" comment. I think most people wear them for cleaning!
I actually use an old candle jar (glass with a silver lid, cleaned out) to hold my gloves. It's a little more attractive and doesn't make me feel like I'm in a hospital setting.

Gosh. I wish I could convince my hubby to let me slide a finger in. I'm working on it, but his first response was somewhere around.. "absolutely not."
