Take a once-over gliding feel of their body with the oil of your choice (it helps you not to irritate skin too much). Depending on your partner's level of muscular knots, anything from the heel of an open hand to the tip of an elbow can help work out stubborn knots. As a smaller female, I find that I can get more leverage when I use my knuckles (with a closed fist), elbow, or even the entire muscle of my forearm for large areas.
