You have a new toy. Do you read the instructions first or start looking through EF reviews?

Contributor: Petite Valentine Petite Valentine
I recently bought a Fleshlight for my husband, and when it came time to clean it, we had a conversation that went like this:

Wife: Did it come with instructions?
Husband: I don't know.
Wife: You don.. you used it without reading the instructions first?
Husband: I read the reviews on EF.

Which leads to my question:
When you get a new toy from EF, what do you do first?

Well, I usually read the reviews before I purchase. Then if I have any new questions pop up after I get it, I check the instructions first, then go back to Eden if they aren't helpful.

I usually read reviews on my toys before buying them, but when I get them if they come with instructions I read those as well.

As we're getting into nicer and nicer toys I find that I go through the directions just to make sure. But usually I've checked out the EF reviews before I've even ordered the thing!

I read reviews before I purchase and usually just wing it I guess. I don't usually buy things that need much instruction.

I don't generally do either--most toys, in my experience, don't require much explanation. Besides, sometimes what works for me isn't what works for someone else, but I basically know what I like and figure I can make it happen on my own. I do read reviews before buying one though.

I usually check out the reviews while it's on its way, just because I'm so excited. By the time I get a toy, I usually already know a few ways to try using it.

I was torn between two answers.

Typically, I'll just have at it and figure it out on my own, but if I run into a problem or question, I'll read a review. I tend to throw instructions away the second I open the box. That is true with everything. I have yet to open a manual for my car or phones.

I generally figure it out on my own. If the toy comes with instructions I generally save them, but if I have a problem I look to EF first.. lol.

Depends on the type of toy. If it's just a regular rabbit, I'll read the reviews. If it's something complicated, I'll also read the manufacturer's manual.

I usually read the reviews before ordering it. Once I get it, it depends on what it is and what is going on at home. If hubby is here, sometimes we will talk about it and try it out or sometimes I have to wait and I may read the instructions..so it just depends.

I don't really need instructions to use a toy. But I usually read reviews before I buy a product depending on what it is.

I usually have already read the reviews before I order (that's how I figure out if I want it or not, lol). When I get the toy, I admit I usually test it out and then play with it. I normally ignore the instructions, lol I know I shouldn't.

I usually just learn as I go. I'm like that with most things. I don't know why.

I read the instructions and then just try the toy out. I'll go to the reviews only if I have I don't understand it even after reading the reviews/trying it for myself.

Well, I usually read all the reviews before I buy. Then when I get the toy I read the instructions, even if it's a fairly straightforward item.

If it is a descriptive review item I am stuck reading the instructions...but if there are reviews for the product I can be found there with toy in hand!

I usually just play around with it and figure it out that way. If I can't figure it out from that, I'll go through the instructions. If I'm still confused, I'll try to find a detailed review. Generally I've read at least a few reviews before I buy something, so I usually have some idea of how to work it before I get it anyhow.

Usually, I pretty much figure it out as I go. If a toy comes with instructions, I do tend to keep them just in case, though.
