Well, I'm with you on this one. I like them romantic. My partner is really romantic. I don't like skinny, but not just totally overweight to the point of being unhealthy, but I seem to go more for the muscular, stalky type. I like manliness in my man, but with lots of kindness and gentleness. I got very lucky. Mine's a pretty good mixture of manly, but still very kind and always doing things to make me smile and surprise me.

I like my men average to solid build - I prefer them softer without all the over the top bulging muscles, I don't like hugging brick walls!

They must be very dominant too, who won't allow me to walk all over them and take advantage.

I'm not the romantic type so I'll skip on that and I hate cocky men - unless it's just in their pants (not upstairs!).

Mostly I like my men 'brilliant,' or able to teach me something (hopefully a lot of things). Doesn't really matter which realm... economics Ph.D student or mechanic, database guru or genome researcher... so long as you've got something that lights your eyes up when you show it to me.

More-than-healthy libido is a must, too, Sthr

Matching sense or humor, and the ability to challenge me when I need to be challenged, and make me feel comfortable when there are no challenges on the immediate horizon are also next-to-vital.

Physically I'm mostly a fan of the skinny body type... it's best if his BMI is lower than mine (which is at the heavier end of healthy, which puts me in "medium"-siz ed clothes. But I'm not super strict about it.

I agree with you wholeheartedly about him being brilliant and able to teach me something, as well as have a sense of humor and willing to challenge me. Those are two of my favorite things about my man.

I also prefer some sarcasm with that humor, musical talent (not a requirement, but it's an instant turn-on for me and to his benefit) and a medium build.

Without brains, romance is goofy, awkward and somewhat creepy (I know, I dated a complete brainless, idiot once...it was only once! Met him in a bar, thought he was pretty and gave him my number. I found out he couldn't even make conversation! augh!)

A badass without brains is trouble waiting to happen. A cocky attitude without brains is likely to get him an ass-beating and trip to the hospital. And clingy...clingy ewwggs me out!

I am with you on the brilliant part. I've dated people who were content to never learn anything and it drove me crazy.
Of course there are other things I look for, but this is definitely the most important.
