How old were you when you first visited a sex-shop?
I don't know. I did go to Spencer's when I was a teen. A "real" sex shop. I can't remember.
I got catalogs from Adam & Eve ordered from bridal magazines when My Man and I were thinking of getting married. They got delivered to my mom's house, as I had started looking at bridal things when I still lived with her and she'd hand them to me with a "I hope this was an accident." comment.
My Man and I would put them on the toilet tank to entertain our friends. (This was years ago, when sex toys were not as common as they are now) people would walk out of the bathroom and say things like, "Uh, that's quite some catalog you got there." Or, "When you put an order in, let me know."
We never ordered anything from there at that time. It was a novelty to put in the bathroom and giggle about.

Well, when I saw sixteen I needed fishnets for some reason. I can't even remember, I think I wanted to wear them to homecoming or something. But we couldn't find any at a regular store, so my mom went in to buy some at the nearest (and very skeazy) sex shop. She made me sit in the car so I don't think it counts, lol. I was 21, newly married and my husband, i wouldnt say begged or dragged me, as I made the mention of it and he just drove to a shop and he basically had to pull me in, but once I was in and got over the nervousness, we just giggled over some of the stuff in there. I prefer online shipping though

The sex shop near to me was very, very, very lax and my first visit was at about 14. As long as you had money they didn't really care how old you were. They also had video booths in the back but they were a little bit more stringent about IDing for that. Thank gosh. I grew up in the conservative Deep South where any sex shop would immediately be protested. The only sex shop in the state was behind a discreetly hidden door at a video store where they kept the porn. When I was 20 I visited a sex shop at Picadilly Circus in London. As soon as I turned 18, I went to Wildcats in Fresno, CA. They're pretty cool. They've also had some great employees over the years.
