I will modify, change, adapt and re-modify, re-change and re-adapt a toy until I can make it work for either me or my husband. Sometimes he gets a bit frustrated and tells me to just toss it, but when it works out---oh, yeah!! Queen for the night!!

I've often thought of modifying toys to add bases to those that aren't made with one, but I've never actually gone through with it because I worry about damaging the toy. Maybe one day!

Yup, do it quite often. I have trimmed the base of many plugs/dildos to make it more comfortable to wear or use. I have forgotten how many pieces of lingerie I have tailored to fit better. I have also changed controls on corded vibes/eggs to gain more function or power, even did a work shop on it that also included how to get corrosion off the battery contacts.

i put no. but i forgot i did once. there was a bath orange like a sponge that had a vibrator in the middle but it wasn't strong enough so I took the foam off.

I've modified many toys with moderate success. I've added more powerful power packs to some we liked that lacked power, I've drilled out dildos to add vibes - and a few other small mods.

I've never modified a toy. The only modification I can think of needing is maybe sanding down a prominent seam, if the toy was otherwise good.
