Did you have sex ed in school?
I remember in 5th grade they told us about the female reproductive cycle and all that but never went into "sexual" detail. so I'd say no..

BUT the other day we got a letter from the school saying next year they are going to start having sex ed.
Did you have it in school? Does your kids school offer it?

We had only a little of sex ed in middle school, cant really remember much of the details but they did talk about stds and pregnancy. No kids so dont know about schools. Mine will go to a private school so dont think they will have sex ed.

I actually had it a few times. In fact in first or second grade we had a class covering some of the basics (what boy and girl parts were called) and what to do if an adult "touched you somewhere you didn't like."

I'm a little reluctant to call sex ed classes by that name, frankly. It's more like "puberty ed" or "reproduction ed." Obviously I don't think they should be going all-out in showing how things are done, but I think any responsible sex ed teacher ought to at least give masturbation a little overview (it is a safe way to achieve satisfaction without putting either yourself or others at risk for pregnancy or disease) but most never do, or only cover how boys do it and ignore the girls, or put it in a negative light.

And for Pete's sake, why does no one talk about the clitoris in these classes?! Aside from making sure you can label it on a diagram, I've never heard of a sex ed teacher going over what it's for. I don't think it would kill them to mention, "Oh, by the way girls, if you want an orgasm, start with this thing." I've heard of grown women not knowing what a clitoris is or what it does, and that's just unacceptable.

Yes we had sex ed in the 5th grade. But they just went over what the female had and what the male had. but they seperated us like girls where in one room and boys in an other. Then when I got to HS they had family planning class our SR year that you had to take to graduate. In that class you got paired up with a boy and married, and then you had a baby. We had to watch this birthing video which scared the totally crap out of some of us... hahah and then the baby was taken home for a weekend of care. some kids ruined the baby and brought it back broken... they ofcourse failed. and others took care of the baby and stayed up all night with it and still failed... hahah but this wasn't a sack of flour either it was a doll. that cried and everything...

In elementary school, they separated the girls and boys to talk about puberty, but we had a pretty rowdy class and we started asking things like whether or not sperm can penetrate through leather, etc. How we even THOUGHT to ask those questions, I have no clue.

High school was brutal, for one month, in physical education, we sat in a room and watched Degrassi High. Every now and then the teacher would let us drop anonymous questions into a box, and she would fish the out and attempt an answer. Most of her answers were shy bullshits though, she really had no idea how to handle a bunch of curious teens.
