Sex Toy Saleswoman?

Contributor: hmb12 hmb12
I've met a woman who works for a sex toy company that visits customers houses and has "girls nights". Basically you inform your client about sex toys and try to sell them. It's supposed to be educational and fun, and some girls really enjoy it. Does this sound like a rewarding job?

I've looked into it and they have some things that sound like a scheme to me, like working towards getting a company car, and sales quotas to meet. Plus you have to buy your own products first, which is similar to some other sales jobs. Does this sound like a job that would be too costly? I also ran into the issue with the woman about if somebody wants to return their product, you are either not allowed to do returns or you have to buy the product back out of your own pocket.

Anyone have experience, let me know! Thanks!

I've never done this, but like any in home sales, some will be successful and some will just have it eat away at their savings. Most in home sales things are a sort of pyramid scheme. You get people under you and make money off what they sell and so on. Once you get a number of people under you that can sell you're golden. It's just, you know, getting there.

This, basically.

Right outta high school this company, I think it was Vector Marketing, was at my graduation (and they appear at my college) and were trying to hire the students there. I looked into the company, and a lot of their stuff was PRETTY negative. Yet, I know people who go there and make some serious money doing it. Most of the people are like natural born salespeople.

I think the problem with sales jobs is that people now know they can get whatever you're selling cheaper online/elsewhere. My friend works at a computer store and he gets commission, and he doesn't know how many times people come in, ask TONS of questions, ask about price and whatnot...then go home, by the computer online or at a big box store, then come back to HIM and ask him more questions or want him to fix it when something goes wrong.

It really all depends on you and the chance you want to take. Personally, I'm not big on sales jobs because they aren't very secure and there are too many factors that depend on whether or not you can make money. If you have to buy your own product, you have to mark the price up, and that can get out of the price range for some people and if it's way too expensive then you might be wasting your time.

The idea of a girl's night is FANTASTIC though. I have heard about make up parties and other sales-related parties and they usually are successful. You have to invest in them a little, you know, food and drinks.

I did this and it was a waste of time and money. There really isn't any education on the materials and a lot of the companies charge WAY too much for some of the stuff that I can get the SAME thing from Eden or something very similar from Eden for a lot less. I did a comparison blog post on my blog you can check it out my blog is on my page. A lot of the toys that these companies sell and push are JELLY and overpriced.

An yes most of those companies if the toy has been used they won't exchange it at all. Very sad if you ask me. I know a girl who "parties for a living" as she calls it an makes good money doing it.

I have a couple of different friends who have had parties at their homes. From a customers point of view they are a lot of fun but the sales are not normally high. Like Camoprincess said the prices are high which can keep sales down. If you want to do it for fun go for it if you want to make a living this may not be the way to go.

Yeah, before I joined eden I ordered a few things from a site that does home visits. Turns out they were all jelly and over I spent over $100 just to throw it all away.
