Shaving?

Contributor: Backseat Boohoo Backseat Boohoo
I was reading Beautiful Dreamer's review of Coochy shave gel, and now I'm curious: what do you folks do with your pubic hair?

Personally, I just give myself a very close trim once a week, twice if I'm with a partner for an extended period of time. I have one ingrown hair right now (it's a fluke, since I don't shave), and I cannot STAND the damn things. I also don't like the shaved look on me. Don't get me started on the itching!

Well, I try to shave but there have been times where I just let myself go. Shaving requires a whole lot of work up like using a warm face cloth or soaking in a bath before hand to open the pores, and then I spend like an hour in the shower with a bottle of Coochy and my razor trying to bend, contort, and shave all the areas where I'm certain I've missed.

When I know I have a gynecological appointment I refuse to shave and instead just trim. When I was 17 my gyno scolded me for a poorly done shave job and it scarred me for the rest of my adult life, lol.

I love a freshly shaved vagina but I will admit, it's messy when wet as opposed to when there's hair and that can be a huge annoyance!

I don't do anything unless I REALLY want to impress my boyfriend, then I will shave the sides or trim it. But he would be more impressed with me shaving my legs, so I'd probably do that instead.

I used to not do anything with mine, until I tried shaving it to surprise my husband. I loved it more than he did, and I continued doing it because I liked it. I just feel more clean and the smoothness turns me on for "me time." I however have a problem with ingrown hairs, and it is a huge time commitment besides. I went to waxing instead, and yeah, I do it myself with the Sally Hansen wax strips, that seems to work best for me so far. I have let it go recently though, and am now just trimming. I plan on going back to waxing, but not for a while yet.

lol! I totally understand that. I was sick in bed for about 4 weeks and when I finally got up shaved my legs he was "Thank you! Now I can finally get some sleep without rubbing my body up against sand paper!" lol.

Does it work with sensitive skin? I tried using a wax kit once but whenever I'd pull the strips off it would just tug painfully at the hair and not remove them.

As a very hairy person, I admire the Brazilian look and feel but compromise and keep my lips smooth to the cleft. There are great pubic shaving instructions here: link

I shave it all off. I've been shaving since before I hit puberty. I was terrified of body hair as a child. I announced at the age of three that hair was nasty. My mother was horrified. I don't know either, so don't ask .
I just shower (usually 4 minutes) then shave quickly with a 4 blade disposable razor and some shaving cream. I try to do this every four days. My hair grows really slowly though Now that I'm not using Coochy, I don't have any in growns and I've personally never experienced itching. I've been doing this for years though, maybe I've developed some sort of tolerance. If we're talking about legs, my hair grows slow and is a fine blonde, so I shave my legs less than I shave my intimate areas. Maybe once a week or so.
& he'll kill me, but my partner has adopted the nude look as well. I tend to be sensitive and when we first got together, even him trimming it close still irritated my skin.
& There you have it. More than you ever wanted to know about my body hair.

An hour?! Now that's dedication. I dedicate 5 minutes max, missed hairs be damned!

Shaved bare. Every day with my legs- although I do use a different razor. One that's sharper. I too have had problems with ingrown hairs, and they are a bitch. I have found that shaving at the most every other day really prevents that as a problem. Really takes no more than a minute, and yeah so what if you miss a few here and there. Pick them up the next day.

I will add that I got laser hair removal upto a Brazillian a few years back though. It gives me more options, and less worry.

i'm most definitely in the trimming club. I keep my bits neat and tidy looking, but i don't ever shave. I used to when i was younger but i hated how it felt even if the guy i was seeing liked it. now i'm super happy that i'm marrying a woman who feels the same way i do. I love how a natural cunt looks and feels so much more. if shaving makes you happy- power to ya, but to me, it looks a little prepubescent and have always preferred a little fur.
as for legs, i probably shave them maybe 1-2 dozen times a year. I'm just not that concerned. my fiancee doesn't care and with blonde hair its' not that noticeable. also, with my joint condition it's usually not worth the effort and pain just for my legs to look acceptable to our culture, so i don't.

So. This laser hair removal... how painful was it? I've heard both ends and really want to get it done!

I've tried hot and cold wax kits before, and I could never get the wax thin enough to actually work. The wax strips are super easy because you just rub them between your hands to warm them up, peel the two layers apart and rip hair out. I've had very good luck with them and they are about $10 a box, I use two so each waxing costs me $20. Plus I like being able to cut the strips into whatever size I want. Little sections are much easier to handle down there, and they seem to remove the hair with little tugging depending on how good my angle and speed are.

Someday I want to get laser done. I've read that it isn't permanent, but the hair will start to grow back in about 5 years. I think I could handle 5 years

I've shaved my pubic hair twice, and I can't make a habit of it. It makes me *ridiculously* horny. Like, porno grade horny. I can't be a competent human being and shave at the same time. XD

My cousin paid $3000 for hers and that was after like 5 sessions, she says it hasn't come back tho. She said it felt like rubber bands snapping against her skin.

I really wanna try the lazer hair removal - so worth the pain! I wax regularly at the moment. It's so easy to make an appointment go in and have them get everything in barely 10 mins and you're smooth and ready to go for at least 4 weeks to 7 (depending on your hair growth).

I hated hair from the get go also and refused to shave after I realised that it makes everything so rough and stubbly. I wax now and epilate my legs - which means when it grows back it's baby soft.

My partner shaves and the sensation of smooth on smooth skin is AMAZING Wouldn't ever go back to all that itchiness and rough nasty hair again

I shave except for a small patch. I've been shaving since I was a teen and I used to just shave everything which I find much easier than trying to leave it but my husband prefers it that way. I certainly don't shave everyday. I tend to get lazy and go a few weeks without shaving but I am trying to be better with that now. -chuckles- I would say it takes me maybe 20 minutes. I don't finish until I am perfectly smooth and I am certain there are no missed hairs. I never understood those who could shave so quickly. I always have to pull at my folds and stretch the curvy parts. LOL

Shaving quickly is like playing Russian Roulette with your vagina.

i shave completely every day - it takes seconds as all i am doing is keeping it bare - i just use a regular razor though my Master did buy me an electric razor (on my request) but i find it quicker just to shave quickly in the shower - i have never had any ingrown hairs - though now i have said that i am probably doomed!

Totally love the brazillian, but it got a bit too expensive at the place i liked and trusted. so, i've resorted to shaving or trimming every few weeks.

Completely bare. I wax it myself (its cheaper and more convenient and really not that hard to do)

Eh, don't shave at all. My hubby likes a bush, and mine is not that thick... it's probably an American Indian thing.

I think this needs to be made into a PSA.
The idea is utterly terrifying.

I usually use Veet or Nair.. something of the sort. I usually shave almost bare or try to. I like being super smooth...

I like the smoothness, but if I shave all the time it'll get stubbly and gross. I shave once a week, after it grows back a bit. It makes the shave look and feel so much better when I let the hair somewhat grow out
