What are your thoughts on having to use condoms with certain toy materials (jelly, rubber, TPRs)?

I never buy jelly toys. I will buy TPR, but I don't use a condom. Then again I only use it for vaginal use, never share, and wash regularly.

I always use them without a condom but I always am very meticulous about cleanliness.

i use highly cleanable materials only. Mostly pyrex glass and silicone. i also have this very nice stainless steel one. they're all sterilizable and body safe.

I don't mind having to use condoms, I don't have much jelly toys. For others made of TPR I don't bother because I don't share them anyway.

Just give me some silicone. I have some TPR but rarely go for it, I usually just use my silicone. Never got an infection from using my TPR and I don't put a cover on it. I just clean it well.

I like using silicone lube often, which is the only thing I don't like about silicone toys. I have one toy that I just have to use covers with no matter what. It's kind of annoying, but the design of the toy is amazing so I put up with it. If I could find one like it in a better material though, I'd switch in a minute.

We generally only buy toys that are non-porous

Jelly, rubber, PVC, and some TPR toys are not very safe so I cannot justify buying them. Even some of the jelly or rubber hybrids make me cringe. I would NEVER buy a toy made of one of these materials since I do not want to expose myself to phthalates. They are toxic and their long term effects are not completely understood, but have been deemed hazardous by the CDC. Phthalates are transferred by dust particles, direct contact and means of transfer on other objects. I don't want anything inside me or near me (if I can have control over it) that contains them.

I buy whatever I want and don't even think twice about using a cover.....I'm cool with my junk....As long as it's clean it should be ok. I don't share my toys with anyone but my SO so it's all good

A toy is pointless if we have to use condoms on them.

Agreed. Spending money on condoms for a toy, I don't think I'd do that. I'd probably just risk it and see if I have problems if the toy looked really phenomenal, otherwise I don't see myself purchasing any "unsafe" toys.

I only buy good quality toys, won't buy jelly at all. I only share with my bf so don't use condoms on toys.

I tend to buy safer toys. Maybe if I saw one that I just had to have I would buy condoms for it, but otherwise I just don't want to have to go through the trouble of it.

I currently only have two toys that I need a use a condom with. I am thinking of replacing both with safer ones as it is a tad bit of pain having to use them.

We have condoms laying around anyway, so it's not that big of a deal. But it seems to me to kind of kill the mood when I'm by myself. If I'm masturbating and I have to stop to put a condom on something I sort of get annoyed.
