Methyl salicylate is oil of wintergreen (though many plants produce it in small quantities, and it is usually synthetically produced for commercial use these days). Oil of wintergreen has an initial cooling sensation, followed by a deeply-felt warming sensation, and it's often used in muscle rubs. Niacin is one of the B-vitamins, and Classic Erotica says that it increases blood flow to the applied area. Zingiber officinale root extract is extract of ginger root, commonly used in Asian cuisines for adding a light "zing," can also be used during PIV sex for a more intense "zing." Smilax root extract is the extract of the root of the sasparilla plant.     Wanna Be Naughty is thinner than the word "creme" usually calls to mind, but it seems to be exactly the correct consistency for sex play. It comes easily out of its bottle and spreads easily across the skin and clit. It also lets the wintergreen oil work rapidly, and on first contact you'll feel a light cooling sensation. It slips well, and though the bottle says it is meant to be used in conjunction with lubricant, not as a replacement for lubricant, I was able to use it with no other lube quite nicely.

    It doesn't fully absorb into the skin, and after using it I needed to wipe up. Regular bathroom tissue was all I needed to get clean, though - no full shower or soap and water treatment was necessary.

    Wanna Be Naughty smells exactly like wintergreen berries. The strength of the wintergreen scent overpowers any medicinal or ginger scents that might be expected from a cream like this---there's nothing but wintergreen.

    This is my first experience with a wintergreen oil-based arousal cream... and it didn't really serve any arousal function for me. I felt the quick cooling, and the following warming, but all that meant was that my clit was cooler and then warmer, and not necessarily more sensitive. I do have a sensitive clit to begin with, and I was thankful that this wasn't overstimulating or numbing.

    For those who are aroused by warming and cooling sensations, your clit will be chilled for a minute or two before the deep warming sensation kicks in. It will need to be wiped off, but an Eden wipe or even regular tissue will work just fine, there's no need for a thorough scrubbing.

  • Experience:

    I originally decided to review this when I saw it had ginger on the ingredients list. I know some women will place a slice of peeled ginger inside to increase stimulation during PIV sex, so I saw ginger and thought this would be a cream-version of raw ginger. By the time it arrived at my doorstep, though, I'd realized that Wanna Be Naughty is actually a clitoral cream, and its principal active ingredient is actually wintergreen oil rather than ginger. My clit is on the sensitive side, so I decided to approach the cream gingerly. I tested some on the inside of my wrist and found no allergic reaction.

    The very general directions "apply to vaginal area" leave a lot to personal taste, so I started out applying a pea-sized amount to the hood of my clitoris, rather than my clit itself. This didn't really result in any enhanced feeling, either immediately or over a period of time.

    The next day I took the more direct route of pulling back my hood and applying a blueberry-sized amount directly to my clit. I felt a little bit of a 'cooling' feeling immediately, but it went away quickly, and it wasn't particularly arousing---just cooling. Maybe that feeling revs some people's engines more effectively than it does mine. I typically don't use lube for clitoral masturbation with my fingers, so the added glide from the Wanna Be Naughty creme meant it took me slightly longer to reach orgasm than usual, but other than that my orgasm was no different than usual.

    My typical test for "is this making my clit more sensitive" is to use the Sasi (my review)---the only sex toy I have that cannot regularly give me an orgasm because its motor stops when pressure is applied. I slathered the nose of SaSi with Wanna Be Naughty---and again, aside from the slipperiness of the lubed-up sensation, my experience was no different from usual sessions. I had to set aside SaSi and finish with my fingers.

    So, while Wanna Be Naughty might be an excellent cream for people who know they respond well to cooling, tingling, or warming sensations, it failed to change my clitoral sensitivity. It's likely best used by people who know they like a mint sensation on their clits.
