Erotic Visions - dvd by Adam & Eve - review by Scoundrel v2

As a big fan of Andrew Blake, I was curious to see the work of his sometime collaborator Cameron Grant. It seems that for the most part the two share a common vision of how to present their art. Erotic Visions disregards several pornography norms and has a lot of similarities to Blake’s movies.

The actresses and actors are all in good shape and attractive for the most part. He forgoes forcing a badly executed storyline and dialogue altogether, and substitutes soft jazz and instrumental music that is more easy listening/classical than the usual cheesy porno movie soundtrack.

The movie is technically hardcore, but it comes off more as high-end erotica. The scenes are beautifully shot and there is a lot of attention to detail. This is reflected in the sets, clothes, music and even the positions the actors engage in.

While I don’t miss the bad acting, horrid dialogue, or poorly executed plots that taint most porn, I do like to hear a little verbal interaction during a scene. But other than a few whispered lines here and there, this movie does not have much interaction of that kind.

The women are stunning, and the men are at least in shape if not a little generic looking. But overall most of the scenes are a little robotic. Not that I expect all porn stars to go all out in every scene, but the ones who do you really appreciate. The premise of the lesbian oil scene is a little silly, but you have to give them credit for going for it. The raw sexuality between the girls and how much they seemed to be enjoying themselves made this the most enjoyable and hottest scene of the film. And it also makes others scenes where they could have done much more with look bad by comparison.

If that one girl wasn’t really cumming then she deserved an AVN for best actress in a lesbian scene for her work here.

Erotic Visions hits most of the usual porn staples (threesomes, lesbian sex, voyeurism), but each scene offers a little something different. The two scenes that include double penetration (one involving 2 girls, one guy and a strap on) and the one with the woman being pleasured by disembodied hands spring to mind as things you don’t see all the time. And while the execution of that scene could have been better, you have to applaud the imagination that went into it.

Some scenes are just flat or ruined by odd editing and creative decisions. Ones that seem to be progressing nicely suddenly cut to elongated/frequent close ups of actors faces (some of which are just comical) or random scenery and props. While one scene makes good use of a fruit spread, others show random closeups of food and other props that have nothing to do with the scene. The one with the Rebecca Lord (usually a favorite of mine) is more than a little disappointing. When the most memorable thing in a scene is a random close up of a wobbling piece of garlic bread, something is not right.

Others overdo it with special effects, where just letting the actors go for it and focusing on them would have made the scenes infinitely better.

Overall Erotic Visions is a lavish and sexy piece of hard core erotica. If you are looking for a highly stylized adult film that will appeal more to women and couples, this is a good choice. If you are looking for hardcore smut you should look elsewhere.
