Cherry 2 by Digital Playground - review by M121212

Cherry 2 takes place in an exclusive nightclub for ladies who enjoy the finer things in life. Much of the plot follows the inner travails of the club's owner, played by Judy Thompson. There is something about Judy that reminds me of Justin Bond, the transsexual hostess in the movie Shortbus. That's a good thing. She is haunted by a mysterious woman who appears to her only in fantasies.

One of the things I appreciated about this film was that it didn't feel like 100% fantasy. There was just enough diversity and grit to keep me interested. Not everybody's blond, and not everybody is sporting a Brazilian. That's right, there is some pussy hair in this film! Also Jiz Lee does a scene with Andy San Dimas right off the bat. Most of Jiz's porn career is in alt queer porn. This is actually her first appearance in mainstream porn, and she said that she appreciated being able to be herself in this film. She appears with a shaved head, wielding a virile strap on under her boyish black duds. This got the film off to a good start. I'm a fan of Jiz Lee and love watching her enthusiasm and genuine interest whenever she's fucking someone on film. Another tidbit from the extras: in preparation for their scene, her and Andy cuddled and Jiz gave her a neck massage. How freaking cute is that?

Some prominent features of this flick are femme ladies (most of them are). There is also some foot play, though nothing too extreme. If you like watching a gorgeous stiletto being removed from a finely pedicured foot along with a little toe sucking, this film might float your boat. Speaking of kink, there's also a little thread of power play running through this film. The girls at the club are let out for hire to the patrons, and many of the scenes have just a touch of dominant/submissive dynamic. Exhibitionism is a theme as the film takes place in a strip club of sorts. Some of the club members even decide to put on a show themselves.

My other favourite scene is with Vicki Chase playing the domme who has to break in the fresh meat at the club (Missy Martinez and Brooklyn Lee). She has them both lined up and works to get them wet enough to let out for hire. It's a short little scene, but a sweet scenario.

This film is female-written and directed by Kay Brandt. If you watch the behind the scenes footage you can see how she talks to the ladies on set, discussing the choreography of removing clothes and when orgasms are to happen. It's pretty interesting if you're curious about how those conversations go. Overall I'd say she did a good job. I enjoy the environment she created as well as the struggle of the main character. I really enjoyed a couple of the sex scenes. Others were too acted out for my taste, but I do appreciate seeing a mainstream company mix a little real queer sex into this flick.

Cherry 2 runs for about 2-1/2 hours. There are two discs: one DVD and one Blu-ray Disc. The film was shot in HD and the production value is very high. On the bonus features there is a gallery, slideshow, behind the scenes, and trailers for other Digital Playground flicks. The case has an extra cardboard sleeve that it slips into, but the sleeve is just the size of the DVD (not over-sized).
