Sanatorium is an adult film starring Tabitha Stevens. I classify it as an adult film because there is nudity and sex, however I wouldn't classify it as porn. At least not your average run of the mill porn film. It is... interesting to say the least. I got it to review for Eden's awesome porn club (which means there are over a dozen reviews on this dvd!) and was looking forward to watching something different.

I didn't know it was going to be this different.

The movie starts out with Nick Manning as a Senator giving an anti-porn speech. After that the plot just gets confusing. The porn has a complex and not easily understood plot. It doesn't bode well for a porn that is plot driven. The first scene is a lesbian scene with Nick Manning watching. After that boring and unimaginative basic average lesbian porno scene the movie really starts. Tabitha Stevens is "telling a story" of her past. The story she is telling takes place over a year- I think. Really, the whole story is confusing.

The story is really the focus of the movie which is unfortunate because the story isn't all that great. I actually couldn't watch the whole movie through the first three times. It gave me a headache. The story was confusing, disjointed, and incomprehensible at most points. I really don't want to be a negative nilly, I really don't. However it is hard for me to sit here and praise something that I honestly couldn't understand or find any scene to get off to.

The story overtook the porn scenes. There would quick scenes of adult material, some that would even start to get hot. There was a particular scene that was point-of-view fucking Tabitha that I started getting into, but then the scene changed and {poof} there went that feeling. There are shots that are confusing thrown in there that are confusing. I'm not saying that a pile of bones can't be a good addition to SOME porn movies, but in this one it just confused me and was a turn off.

Once I finally watched the movie in bits in pieces, I could watch it all the way through the fourth time. It didn't help. The movie was not my cup of tea. At all. Could it be yours? Um, I have a hard time believing that. However if you are into more artsy and confusing porn, then maybe. It is well shot and you can tell a lot of thought when into it. I praise the actors on their commitment to the project. You can tell a lot of love went into the film, and that is the truth.
