Girls night cock-tail shooter - gags discontinued by Cal Exotics - review by Breas

The Girls Night Cocktail Shooter by Cal Exotics is available in the colours pink or black. I had received the pink cup to review. The product packaging is very simple. The product sits in a plastic baggy with a folded piece of cardboard stapled to the top. The front of the cardboard piece states the company name, product name, and a cartoon picture of a female drinking a cocktail.

The back of the packaging has the same information and photo as the front as well as stating the company contact information, material of the product, and website. The packaging is not ideal for storing the cup. We store ours in the cupboard but it could also be tucked away in a drawer. Since the product can be seen through the packaging, it is not discreet.



The packaging states that the shooter cup and penis inside is made of GPPS, which stands for general purpose polystyrene. It is plastic. The black cord that is attached to the cup is made of nylon. The cord clasps behind the neck like a necklace with a hot pink coloured plastic piece. This plastic piece is stated on the packaging to be PP, which is polystyrene.

The cup is pink in colour but it’s a clear pink. There is a hot pink, opaque penis inside of the cup. The penis seems to be glued to the very bottom inside of the cup. He seems quite secure in the cup and shouldn’t detach itself while in use. The penis has face. The face has 2 eyes, 2 little eyebrows, and a big grin. It’s a silly looking thing but it’s cute. Obviously, the shooter is meant as a gag gift. It would be a great gift for a friend or an item to have at a bachelorette party.



The cup stands 2 3/8 inches tall. The circumference of the very bottom of the cup is approximately 4 ½ inches. The top of the cup has a circumference of approximately 6 ¼ inches. The plastic penis inside of the cup stands just a tad over 1 1/8 inches tall. The total length of the cord (including clasp) is approximately 37 inches. The clasp itself has a length of 1 inch.

With the total length of the cord being quite long (see measurements above), most people will be able to put the cord around their head and down to their neck (like a necklace) without undoing the clasp. If the wearer just had their hair done and doesn’t want to mess it up, they could use the clasp.

I personally don’t like the style of this clasp. The one part of the clasp snaps into the other side. While this makes it secure, it’s also really annoying to unclasp it. You can either pull the nylon cords quite hard in the opposite direction of each other or stick your fingernail between the two clasps to loosen it and get it undone. You can see the clasp opening in the photo below.



The cup was made to be used as a shooter glass for alcohol but you could use it for anything. A typical shot glass holds 1 oz. of liquid. I knew as soon as I had seen this cup that it was much, much larger than a regular shot glass (worked at a bar a long time ago). We don’t have any shot glasses in our home so I went to a measurement conversion website to see how many cups are in an ounce. According to the website, ¼ of a cup equals to 2 oz.

I took out my ¼ measuring cup and filled it with water. I dumped the ¼ cup of water into the shooter cup. Each side of the cup has a little hole in it that the black, nylon cord runs through. Each end of the cord is knotted so that the cup stays attached to the cord. That being said, you can’t actually fill the cup any higher than these holes or the liquid will spill out everywhere. When I had put the ¼ cup of water into the shooter cup, the water went just up to these holes. What this means is that the shooter cup holds double what a regular shot glass would hold (2oz instead of 1oz).

The plastic seems fairly durable. I accidentally dropped it on my kitchen floor and it didn’t break. Though I assume that if it were hit hard enough it would break (like throwing it against a cement wall with all of your force). The penis ornament inside of the cup also seems very secure. If you wear the string around your neck like a necklace, you won’t have any issue of accidentally dropping it. When you need to wash the cup, just wash it like you would wish any other dishes- dish soap and warm water.

If you didn’t want to use the cup to drink from (whether it be alcohol or non-alcohol), you could use it to store little items in like pennies, dimes, a few individually wrapped candies, pet treats, eye shadow brushes, cigarettes, sewing needles, or whatever. I probably won’t be using it to store little items in because it’s too small. I also don’t have any need for shooter cups so I’ll probably end up gifting this to my sister.



I think the best use for this cup is as a gag gift. It’s funny, cute, and something that the gift recipient won’t soon forget. It’d be great to give to the birthday girl (or guy) or to have at a bachelorette party. It would also make a cute party favour if you were to make little gift bags for each of the people who had attended. I’ve deducted one star from the rating because I find the clasp terribly annoying to unsnap.
