Um is NOT an Answer

Cosmo's Truth or Dare game is pretty fun, though it would be best for a new or shy couple. The truths seem to be things that open or long-term couples would have already discussed, while the dares are pretty fun, regardless of the length of the relationship. If a couple gets bored with these cards after a few games, they can also use them to create their own truths or dares.

extremely useful review
I really like the idea of playing truth or dare with my boyfriend, especially since he is so quiet. Sometimes I seriously feel like I do not know him. I am hoping playing this game with him a few times will help, but so far it hasn’t after one game.

Cosmo’s Truth or Dare game comes in a nice looking box. It is a shiny hot pink with a really sturdy magnetic side-closure. The box measures about 5 x 4 x 2 inches. The front features a small picture of a couple and "Truth or Dare" in big black letters. The back has a preview of the cards. The magnets are pretty strong, which I prefer, since I can stand the box up like a book on my bookshelf without worry of the box opening. It’s not difficult to open though. I would recommend using a rubber band to hold the cards, though, if you are travelling with this. Inside, there are instructions on the left flap and the cards in a box. The right side also opens as a flap and has a clear plastic window. My only con with the box is that it has no packaging, so mine was pretty beat up looking from being in the warehouse with other stuff and being shipped with other stuff. It's got the little dent marks that textbooks seem to always get from pens and other books.

The instructions are to spread the cards out and take turns with your partner drawing a card out of the pile. When one person picks a card, the other picks truth or dare and is then read whichever they chose.

The game includes 120 game cards and a top card that just states “Two players. 120 cards. Lots of very sexy nights.” The cards are a bit large, measuring 4 1/4 inches tall and 3 1/2 inches wide. Holding the whole deck in one hand is a little difficult, and I have long fingers. Each card features a truth and a dare on one side and a snake skin print on the other side. Not all of the cards are the same colors. Some have a yellow/pink combination on the truth/dare side, some have orange/blue, and the rest have pink/red. The snake skin goes from pink to darker pink and a blue purple. The cards have the same feel as many playing cards. If a small amount of liquid or food gets spilled on them, it should easily clean off.

Here are some of the truths:
- Would you rather receive a dirty text message, e-mail, or voice mail?
- Do you think make-up sex is better than every day sex?
- If you had to choose between $10,000 and being able to easily have multiple orgasms for the rest of your life, which would you choose?
- What’s the naughtiest thing you have ever done in the shower?
- What is the most sensitive spot on your body?

And here are some dares:
- Imitate what I sound and look like during orgasm.
- Seductively lick a body part of your own.
- Pretend there’s a catwalk that stretches across the room. Strut your stuff… naked.
- Sit down. I am going to straddle you. Pretend you’re a bucking bronco and give me a provocative ride.
- You have 20 seconds to come up with a dirty joke and tell it to me. Go!

I’d have to say, for boasting that the game is their “naughtiest ever,” this game seems a bit too tame and easy for people who have been in a relationship for a long time. If both partners are communicating fully, most of the truths should be known already in a long-term relationship. However, if one partner is like my boyfriend, this can get interesting, unless they just answer how he did with, “Um, I don’t know.” Also, some of the dares, such as one about going outside in just a robe and flashing your partner through the window, makes the game only really possible if you have the house to yourselves. We were playing this with my mom and dad downstairs watching TV, so some stuff was not even possible.

Overall, this is a pretty interesting game. The truths aren’t that fun to admit, really nothing that would make someone blush, but the dares are pretty daring. None of the dares actually involve sex, though they can be used as foreplay. I’d say for $10, this game is worth it for new or shy couples. None of the cards indicate anything that this game is for strictly heterosexual couples, so pretty much anyone can enjoy it. If the truths and dares aren’t enjoyable, the cards can be used to think up your own ideas for truths and dares.
Follow-up commentary
Whenever we are bored or I just feel like badgering my boyfriend, I pull out some of these cards to ask him very personal, sometimes slightly creepy, questions. It never fails to kill the boredom.

We played this one, and while I didn't like it, we did put a more exciting spin on it by requiring each other to guess what the other would say before the person answered the question. Good review.
