Very Disappointing

I was not a fan of this brand and someone else that I spoke to wasn't either. If you'd like to give them a try start by holding them fairly high up to work up to the pain that they inflict.

Pros:
when done right they won't cause injury
Cons:
when held too close to the skin they really hurt!

Purpose / Audience

This is geared for a bit of S&M play. Or maybe a couple or individual looking to experiment a little by getting outside of their comfort zone would like to give this a shot. They cause some pain while still being safe and not putting anyone in danger.

Rules / Content

You light the candle while the other person gets comfy (or uncomfortable if that's part of the scene). You can then drip the quick cooling wax onto the other person from varying heights. The height you hold the candle the more the wax has a chance to cool before hitting their skin, causing less pain. It was awhile ago that we used these but I do believe that there were instructions included telling you to do this.
It's a game where everyone can win if one person enjoys inflicting pain and the other enjoys receiving pain. Or it can be a game where no one wins if you really aren't that impressed by them.

Design

Candles burn out so you'll have to buy more if you want to play again at some point. There really isn't much else to this, supply your own lighter or matches. You could incorporate the lighting of the candles in the scene if you'd like. Perhaps you would like to use candles that you previously lit in the room to light these candles.

Personal comments

Personally neither the ex that I tried these with nor I were very impressed. At first I thought we just weren't in the mood for them, I generally enjoy pain in bed and he never complained about inflicting it upon me. After talking to his mom she told me that she and her boyfriend were not fans of this particular brand either and suggested something else and I really wish I could remember what so that I could try them out at some point in time. I do find pain and hot wax erotic still and would like to have a good experience. I think he was holding them far too close to my skin though and I did not really get a chance to warm up to that point.

I've never used wax before but it sounds like fun I was curious is this a special kind of wax specifically designed to be used in the bedroom?

Yes it is, it burns differently than a traditional candle so the wax will not actually burn you. Regular candle wax creates those pools that you see in a candle while these ones don't do that.

Hi, Kim! Thanks for this review.

If you don't mind, I'd like to make a suggestion or two. I think it'd be great if you'd go into a bit more detail about the wax after it melted, i.e. it's consistency while it was still in its liquid form and after it dried. Was there any issue with staining? What about fragrance (if it even had one)? Was it a nice smell or was it overwhelming?

Also, you mentioned the candle burning out. Do you remember about how long the candle lasted before it was all burned out?

Specifics like the above would make your review stand out even more.

Thanks for the feedback, hopefully I'll get to that later on tonight!

What particularly didn't you like about these candles? The drip? The temperature? I pretty much second Kristi's questions, too.

Did you ever find out what the other brand was that was better?

  • Painful?
    • I dont know about these, I HATE pain!
    • I hate wax-play. I'm a self-described pain slut, and even I think it's "Bad pain."
    • I've had about 2 or 3 massage candles, and the wax is never hot enough to be painful, once it's melted and poured. I'm guessing, since you can't spread normal wax, it's painful because the wax sticks to your skin and traps the heat?
