Glo thick - butt plug discontinued by Doc Johnson - review by Trysexual

The Glo thick anal plug is a new offering for Doc Johnson. It is similar to a standard butt plug, but glows in the dark. It is offered in choice of 4 vibrant colors (Blue, Yellow, Orange and Pink).

It is waterproof as well, so you can take it in the shower, tub or swimming pool if you like. Or go dancing naked in the rain.

Now why does anyone need a butt plug that glows in the dark? Why not? Do you like playing in the pitch black of night and need to see what you are doing? Do you need to find your partners rear in a dark room? Are you an ass spelunker? Do you need your toys on the bedside table to be within easy sight in the dark? Do you want to see a glowing object disappear into the dark of your partners rear? Even better you can color code you and your partners butt plugs, so you don't grab the wrong one!

Of course, butt plugs can be used for various purposes such as: anal training/stretching, preparing for anal sex, P spot stimulation, wearing during masturbation, wearing during intercourse, extended wear and so on.

Doc Johnson also offers an identical vibrating/glowing model and a slim model, which is geared more for beginners, but isn't as tapered to stay in place from the reviews I've read. So if you want something with vibration you can choose that one.

The material is Phthalate Free PVC / Sil-a-Gel, which is also latex free and has Anti-bacterial properties. It is an 8 on the EF safety scale and is smooth and pliable. It is rather squeezable, but springs back to shape right away.

The size/texture is great for intermediate to advanced users.

While this is not silicone, it does seem like an upgrade from the usual Jelly or Rubber type toys. It is smooth and shiny in appearance with no texture.

There is a distinct plastic smell when I first opened the box that was stronger than usual. The smell dissipates in time, but was very pronounced.

I have to admit, when I first opened the package from EF and saw how large this was, I was very surprised. I expected it to be much smaller, both in length and girth. It is rather large and long and is hard to tell from photos without some scaling for comparison.

The Glo thick anal plug is 5 1/2" long and 4 1/2" is insertable. The circumfrence at it's widest point is 5 1/4" or 1 3/4" diameter. This is just beyond my normal width tolerance of 1.5" which is pushing my own boundaries. The neck tapers down to 1" at the base. The shape is standard for a butt plug of this type.

It's neither discreet or particularly travel friendly and the colors definitely stand out!

Definitely not a beginners plug!

I was a bit disappointed when I got this, because for some reason I thought EF was sending me the vibrating version, which has 7 vibrating functions, but alas I got the basic model, but I did get the blue I wanted! I think that one must have gotten picked while I was ordering or I just chose the wrong one. Oh well. I think it might be a bit advanced for us anyway.

It is a well made plug and will be great for size queens or those wanting a challenge. I'm afraid it's going to be a bit larger than what I was looking for and will probably not get much use. That said, it seems like a perfect size for warmup or training for anal sex and the smooth finish is ideal for penetration without drag. We just aren't at that stage yet anally.

The material is smooth and glossy, so I think it would slide in without any drag and not require tons of lube either.

Here is a picture showing the glow. It's not real strong and it appears green in the photo. I guess its sorta bluish/green when glowing.

The toy is water-based or silicone lube compatible and can be cleaned with hot soap and water. You can store it in a bag or pouch to keep dust/lint away from it, so it is ready to use or give it a rinse/wash before using. It will gather some dust, but not as bad as silicone.

It is recommended to use condoms to cover toys of this type material if you plan on sharing with partners, since they cannot be sterilized like Silicone, glass, metal, ceramic toys. The size and shape of this toy is ideal for using a condom as a cover, whether for safety and personal hygiene or just for easy cleanup.

The toy has no electronics of moving parts so it is completely waterproof.

The Glo thick anal plug comes in a clam shell case within a black box with 70s style rainbow lettering. It is recyclable, but not something really to keep for storage. You definitely could though if you so choose.

One thing to remember, if you want the plug to glow, you will need to leave it out under some light. It's not going to glow after sitting in a dark drawer or pouch.
