A mildly irritating beginner's option that didn't pacify my qualms about anal play

If this toy were ridgeless and a bit softer, I would love it for initiating novices to the pleasures of anal play. Unfortunately, those issues make the toy barely acceptable, and could really detract from a first time anal experience.

Pros:
pleasing shape, useful handle, easily cleaned
Cons:
irritating molding ridge, overly stiff, slightly awkward

extremely useful review
The Love Pacifier is a great size and has a convenient handle for initiating a novice into anal play. Unfortunately, a residual molding ridge along the crest of the insertable portion is irritating during play, creates problems during prolonged insertion, and can actually snag tender skin at the worst possible moment, particularly for a novice. I also found the material overly firm for a novice anal toy, making initial penetrations less comfortable than I desired.

My lover used the Beginner Love Pacifier as my first insertable anal toy, and I was very nervous about this new experience. With appropriate stretching and plenty of lube, the first insertion into my bottom started out fine, but ended up uncomfortable as the ridge of excess silicone rubbed the sensitive tissues of my anal sphincter in a very unpleasant way. During the next attempt, a few days later, I could accept the Pacifier, but was very aware of that irritating ridge. When I used the Pacifier on my lover, he did not find the ridge overly distracting, but he is more experienced with anal play.

I have used the Pacifier for insertions up to a few hours. The round loop of a handle is annoying between my ass cheeks, but does offer reassurance that I was unlikely to lose the toy inside me. The handle is flexible enough that sitting was not problematic, and it did make withdrawing the Pacifier much easier. My anally experienced lover found the Pacifier easy to hold for an afternoon, and convenient to remove in a public bathroom. Additionally, the handle does make slow, rhythmic thrusting and gentle teasing viable (just watch out for that ridge!)

The size of this plug is approximately equivalent to 2 knuckles on medium to large hands with a circumference of 4" at the widest part and an insertable length of 2.25". The Pacifier does not offer much give and I have found I prefer items with more flexibility for anal insertion. I also found the silicone in this toy to be rather cool, particularly when lubricated, which caused me to tense upon entry; easily solved with some warm water, though it didn't hold heat as well as other silicone toys. I do enjoy the shape of this plug; the round tapering style was comfortable for insertion and retention. The plug is made of high quality silicone, that is hypoallergenic and phthalate free. I did not find the material at all irritating, but be certain not too use silicone lube (stick to water based lube!). Of course, I love the convenience of disinfecting this toy in boiling water or the top rack of my dishwasher.
Experience
We bought the Love Pacifier as my first anally insertable toy, and I found it a more difficult insertion than larger, softer, and smoother silicone toys. The ridge from the mold design does create some problems. I have found that if we avoid rotating the toy during penetration, the ridge is less irritating. I also found that leaving the concave side of the stem facing forward against the perineum made the plug comfortable for retention for a couple of hours. Curving the withdrawal of the toy along the shape (like completing an arc) helps ease the removal for a novice.

I can't imagine putting my toys in the dishwasher...

@bballard3 - its a great way to disinfect some toys! Toss them in the upper rack of the dishwasher and let the heat do the cleaning. I feel that it is just as hygenic as boiling, and autoclaving (my prefered method) isn't always an option.

  • Smoothing a Material
    • Many people have mentioned the uncomfortable seam that runs through the of the center of the Love Pacifier. This is the one problem preventing me from purchasing this product. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to file or smooth the silicone?
    • I read a review on this one (link) and he was able to wear away the seam using a razor blade and sandpaper. Apparently it made a huge difference.

I've been looking into buying this one too. It seems like a great toy!
    • Man... sandpaper?

  • True silicone?
    • Does anyone know if this plug is actually silicone? It seems just a little too inexpensive to be. I'd be curious to hear from anyone that owns this one...have you done a flame test on it? I am interested in picking one up but not if it's TPR or something like that.

      Thanks :)
    • I think they must have changed the formulation. I'm pretty sure that it used to be TPR silicone, but now it says in two places that it's silicone. Eden is quite reliable, so it probably is truly silicone.

I don't have that particular one but I have this version link and those I have done a flame test on it and it passed with flying colors! :)
