Deluxe wonder plug - anal vibrator by Doc Johnson - review by Wild Orchid

Deluxe Wonder Plug is a traditionally shaped butt plug designed for anal use. Its size makes it suitable for users who have experience with average sized plugs (it's wider than for example the large N-Joy Pure Plug).

It can be used alone, although sharing it with a partner in a Dominance/submission scenario is where this toy can show its true potential.

The plug, air tube and the pump are made from latex rubber, which is porous and may cause sensitivities in some people. However, I haven't seen this kind of toy made out of silicone, although I was told that it can be done. If you are concerned about it harboring bacteria just put a condom on the plug. The material appears smooth but in reality has a lot of drag, which makes using a good thick lubricant even more important. The toy is rigid and when deflated has no give. Inflating makes the head of the plug squishy, but it doesn't change the neck.

The battery pack that also includes the vibration controller is made from hard plastic with a glossy finish.

This toy is an intermediate or better yet advanced plaything. The bulb of the plug is 3" long with a 1 3/4" diameter in the widest point, that might prove challenging to some. The base is considerably narrower, long enough to make retention comfortable (1" in circumference as well as length). The air tube is more than a foot long and the cord is twice that length, which I found sufficient. The battery compartment is easy to open and fill as long as you check the polarities.

The dimensions of the plug combined with the look of the tube, pump, controller, and the black color make it look slightly intimidating - which is a good thing if you plan to use it in a D/s setting. If your submissive still isn't phased - show them how big it can be inflated.

Because of the shape removing the toy might be tricky. To do so comfortably, fully deflate it and take your time - never yank it out.

The vibrations of this toy are moderate, calming rather than overwhelming and neither loud nor quiet. They are controlled by a simple dial on the side of the battery pack. When the plug is deflated, the vibrations can be best felt in the head. Once you start inflating, the vibrations stay only in the neck and base.

You inflate the plug by squeezing the bulb 'till you achieve desired fullness. Every time you release the squeezed bulb it refills with a distinct sound. The sensations are really intense. Give your body time to accustom to the stretch. If you are using this toy on a partner, maintain communication with them, so that you know whether they can take more. Beside the bulb is a release valve that can be activated by pressing it. The air leaves quickly with a whooshing sound.

Since I only use this toy on special occasions I haven't been able to measure the speed at which it drains the batteries.

Since Deluxe Wonder Plug isn't waterproof and at the same time it's a porous material you have to take care cleaning it. I personally just run the plug part under the tap and wash it with soap. While the controller and the pump are only wiped down with a damp cloth. I haven't had any problems yet but those who are more cautious might opt for using the cloth on the whole thing and spraying it with a toy cleaner. Because of the nature of the material I don't recommend using it vaginally once it has been used anally and would only share it with a person I'm fluid-bonded to. I would guess you could use a condom on the plug but I don't know how well it would work with it changing shape inside you. If you do, provide good lubrication to minimize the friction between the layers of latex.

You can use either water-based or silicone lube with this latex toy. My recommendation would be a water-based gel. Never use oil on this product. It will degrade the material and over time, it theoretically might make the toy dangerous (if it was to burst during inflating).

I store my plug in a cloth pouch to protect it from touching other toys and bonding with other materials.

The packaging is pretty basic but in contrast to other products from this price range - it's not "adorned" with photos of porn stars. It shows the toy and describes how to use it.

As I mentioned I tend to shop with my eyes rather than my rational mind. I was expecting that with my modest experience, this toy would be easy to insert. I was wrong. I warm up with fingers and smaller toys (like Tantus Acute) but the last, widest inch is always a challenge. Once my muscles finally close around the neck, there is a huge feeling of relief and the fun with pumping the toy up may begin. I personally can take about 6 squeezes at the beginning - but I like the stretch in the rectal area (as opposed to stretching my sphincter).

So after watching people use this toy in amateur porn, were my expectations dashed? Somewhat. If you reach for an inflatable toy, you expect it to be small enough to insert with little preparation and then use the pump to get it to a desired size. Not being able to use this plug in such a carefree manner did give me some buyers remorse.

However, over the first few months I learned to enjoy the toy for what it is: a challenge. For people like me who don't have an ease with getting larger diameters past their sphincter, this toy is best reserved for occasional use. For me, every one of those occasions proved memorable in the best possible way.
