Ace in the hole - his and hers review!
Good for men, good for women, comfortable, easy to keep in, small and not at all intimidating - what's not to like? Since receiving the Ace, I've enjoyed anal play a lot more often than I did before, and I'm even thinking about ordering the larger version!Published: September 11, 2008
Pros:
The long stem and the square base keep it comfortably seated and it won't slip out.
Cons:
I wish there was more variety available - the Ace comes in two sizes, but I wish there were more.
I'm not always sure how I feel about anal play. While I do enjoy it, and I do find it pleasurable, I sometimes have a hard time finding a butt plug that is both comfortable and easy to keep inside. When I orgasm, I have a tendency to clench down hard, and the embarrassment of pushing most toys out of my body keeps me a) from using most anal toys, and b) from being able to relax and enjoy them.
So I received the Ace, I was very excited because this isn't a butt plug built like most others. Most butt plugs have the bulb directly attached to the base, but the Ace has the bulb on a longer shaft connected to a small rectangular base.
I tried out the small version of the Ace - in purple (my favorite color!). It's a cute little toy, and not in the last bit intimidating, so after some foreplay with my husband, D, I was more than ready to try it out. For me, the design worked exactly as promised. The plug slid inside easily and the long stem kept it seated well, while the small rectangular base fit comfortably between my cheeks. And it felt amazing - it was comfortable enough that I was actually able to relax and really enjoy the sensations! I have heard other reviewers say that the longer stem prevents the toy from being comfortably thrust in and out, but since I don't use butt plugs like that, I didn't have a problem with it - but it's something to keep in mind.
The Ace is made of phthalate free and made of silicone. While this means that it shouldn't be used with silicone based lubes (we used a water based lube which works well with most toys), it also means that it can be completely sterilized by boiling or washed in a 10% bleach and water solution and shared. Which was a good thing, because D wanted to try it out too!

IBS and Anal??

I am very curious about anal, but I have pretty bad IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and spend a lot of my time very constipated. Is this going to hinder my ability to participate in anal play?

I am seriously right there with you. It's hard having IBS and wanting to play anally. Mine is combination, so I'm at all ends of the spectrum.
What is it that you're worried most about?
My best suggestion is to pay attention to your body. While it doesn't seem as if anal play will do much to make IBS worse, you still should try gradually and monitor your symptoms. Personally, if I'm in the midst of serious IBS problems, I make sure to refrain from any activity. However, your body works in different ways. If you're at the point where you feel like you have to go but can't, I'd say not to engage in anything. If you feel fine, but haven't gone in a few days, then you might be okay with it.

I have the larger version and it's really great! The larger version though (for me) tends to slip actually. Not completely out but just enough for the bulbous head of the toy to sit right against the sphincter. It doesnt "lock" into place but tends to move around a lot mostly if I stand and sit.
I find it curious that two plugs shaped the same way, having different sizes, have two different effects!
If you get the larger version it would be nice to know if you have the same experience.

Ha, my husband 'shoots' butt plugs when he cums too! Maybe this toy could solve that problem....
Tantus knows how to make great butt plugs. The base of the Ryder is even better than this one, and the neck is perfectly sized to stay in place. The Ace Royal definitely has a good size to it. Naughty Student - it sounds like the neck is too long to just lock in place. It's definitely nice to have the neck on a plug, but I guess too much neck can be a problem too. Thanks for the great review.
Nice review! Might want to check out the Tristan too- it's the same design, and a bit bigger than the Ace Royal.
Toying Couple- Yeah, plugs with more of a neck-to-head girth difference usually stay in place better.

What other plugs have you used for comparison? Some I love- the Jolly Jack for instance. Others... not worth playing with.
@Devilbluedress - I've tried other, more traditionally shaped plugs, like the classic butt plug royale, and similar anal "training" kits in plugs of traditional shape but varying size. This is by far my favorite - so comfortable, and I really liked not having to worry about it coming out. It's comfy enough that I'll wear it during the day while D and I are out and about - I've never been comfortable enough with any other plug to do that.
