Use

Riley is a slim G-spot/P-spot dildo made by Pleasure Works, an American company. A nice feature of this dildo is the hole in the base where a bullet can be placed. Extending the versatility of a simple dildo even further, the vibrations can add much more stimulation to an already inspiring play session.

For vaginal use, the bulbous head and gentle curve in the shaft may very well hit the G-spot. Whether it does or doesn’t reach will depend on individual anatomy. The size would be great for beginners or those who prefer a little less girth in their toys. While Riley may not be covered in textures to appeal texture lovers, the head provides some sensation that surely won’t bore even advanced users and the smooth shaft is perfect for thrusting.

The design may be just as useful for prostate stimulation and the size is well suited for intermediate anal users. The flared base is not only perfectly anal safe but it makes for a sturdy fit in a harness. Riley will hold up well for pegging and strap-on sex. The base is also a useful handle for hand-held thrusting.

The included bullet could be used on its own for clitoral stimulation either solo or during sex. It can also be used to stimulate other erogenous zones, such as the nipples, testicles, or shaft of the penis. When inserted into the base of the toy, Riley could be used in similar ways.

The bullet is waterproof and there are no worries about taking Riley out for playtime in the water. There are very few limits to this toy. Whether it be traveling, getting wet or staying dry, Riley will excite in many different situations.

Material / Texture

Riley is made of silicone, while the accompanying bullet is made of plastic. These materials are both body-safe, latex and phthalate free and are non-porous. On Eden’s safety scale, silicone scores a perfect 10 and plastic gets a respectable 8.

The silicone was initially quite sticky to the touch, not unlike the stickiness of Vixen’s silicone and Vixskin. Riley’s stickiness seems to have lessened with each wash, to the point where it’s hardly even noticeable. Presently, the tacky surface lends more to lint attraction and provides a large amount of drag against the skin.

Aside from the plushy button, the bullet is solid and has no give at all. Riley, however, has a bit of give and some flexibility while at the same time being stiff enough to maintain the curve in the shaft.

Both the shaft and bulbed head are perfectly smooth. This lack of texture makes Riley a great choice for beginners. The ridge around the head is also gentle enough to be pleasing to beginners, yet stimulating enough for advanced players.

As another perk of silicone, Riley has absolutely no smell. After a thorough wash, it was confirmed to have no taste either.

Design / Shape / Size

Riley is offered in teal and purple. The teal color is bright and has very subtle, shimmery flecks embedded in the silicone.

Riley is about 7 inches long with roughly 6.5 inches insertable. With a diameter of 1 3/8” at the widest part of the head and tapering in to about an inch just below the head, Riley is on the slimmer side of the toy spectrum. The shaft very gradually increases back up to 1 3/8” at the base.

The tip is bulged to form the head and has a definite ridge around the top and sides. The underside is very slightly bulged and there is no evident ridge on that side.

The underside and shaft are smooth with no textures. There are no textures around the tip either. Riley is suitable for both beginners and the texture-wary. However, any level of player would surely find use for Riley in their collection.

The unmistakably phallic shape is offset with the fun colors, a lack of balls, slight stiffness and vibrations that travel through the silicone by way of the bullet inserted in the base.

The bullet is black and a standard 2 1/4” size. It can be replaced with any standard or even slightly larger sized bullet. The hole in the base is deep enough (roughly 2.5”) that the bullet can be fully inserted into the base without worry of bumping the button. The hole tapers deeper inside so always slather on a drop of water based lube on the bullet before inserting it into Riley.

The base measures 2 1/2” across and is roughly a 1/2” thick. This base is small with regards to the dildo itself. When placed on a flat surface, it is a bit top-heavy and will sway before it either stands still or falls.

The opening of the bullet hole is about 1” wide so fingers are able to squeeze in once the bullet is inserted and the tip of the bullet can be gripped. Do not rely on this feature alone to remove the bullet. Lubing it up beforehand is still highly recommended.

Performance

Although the shaft is flexible and the curve can be straightened out with enough pressure, the bulbous head upholds G-spot stimulation. Of course, this will depend on individual anatomy. The same goes for prostate stimulation in men.

The base does not function as a suction cup, at least not on any surfaces in my home. It does, however, hold up well in a harness. For strap-on sex, Riley is a great option. The thickness and size of the base lend to its stability and the size is great for beginner to intermediate users. It may be a bit large for beginner anal play, but it could be just fine.

The bullet has a single button control at the base. One push turns the bullet on and the second push turns the bullet off. There is only the one speed. This one speed is comparable to the highest speed of most bullets. Though it is likely to be powerful enough for most users, it is very buzzy. In fact, it is much buzzier than most standard bullets.

The bullet is loud enough to be heard through covers, and depending on your own situation, may even be heard through a closed door. Even when inserted in Riley, the sound is not significantly dulled.

The bullet is waterproof and functions beautifully when fully submerged. Just be sure to have the cap screwed on tightly at all times.

Three LR44 batteries are inserted “+” side up. The cap can then be screwed back on and the bullet is ready to go.

Care and Maintenance

Riley and its little bullet are very easy to care for. Being made of silicone, Riley can be completely sterilized by boiling it or placing it in the top rack of the dishwasher. Do not do this with the bullet, however. Those methods could damage its mechanical components.

Always sterilize Riley when sharing or before vaginal use after anal use. A new condom can also be used to cover Riley. This is an important safety measure to inhibit the spread of bacteria and infections.

To clean the waterproof bullet, a mild antibacterial soap and warm water is effective. Toy wipes or a toy cleaner could also be used. Always remove the batteries before cleaning and secure the cap back on tightly. Keep the batteries apart from the bullet during storage as well to preserve their lifespan. The paper cover could be replaced rather than removing the batteries when storing, but this little paper could be tough to keep track of in the long run.

For easy removal of the bullet, a dab of water based lube before sticking it in the base helps a lot. If the bullet is being used on its own, any sort of lube is fine. However, use only water based lubes with Riley. A silicone lube can break down the silicone that Riley is made up of. Similarly, store Riley away from other silicone toys.

Riley and the bullet can be stored together. The original packaging can be used or a toy pouch or baggie can be substituted.

Packaging

Though discreet may not be the word to describe it, the box is tastefully decorated and informative. The fact that this is a “vibrating dildo” is prominently displayed across the front and its uses are listed on the side. Material information, size and other such qualities are also described on the box.

Inside the flimsy box, Riley is wrapped in a clear plastic bag. The bullet is also wrapped in its own little plastic bag. The batteries are already in the bullet but a small paper covering will need to be removed before use.

The top of the box has too many flaps for my taste, but otherwise, the box is suitable for storage. It is not obnoxiously oversized and there are no nude people pictured on it. Although it doesn’t scream luxury, it could be acceptable for gifting provided that a dildo is an appropriate gift. In that case, I’d recommend wrapping it beforehand since Riley is largely pictured on the front and back of the box.

Should you decide to discard the packaging, it is entirely recyclable.

Personal comments

Riley does appear to be similar to the Mistress but I have found them to be quite different. An obvious difference is in their materials. Although both are made of silicone, Mistress is much softer and squishier than Riley. It is also much easier to remove the bullet from Mistress than it is to get it out of Riley (even with lube). Though the shafts are of similar size, there are some minor design differences. For instance, Riley’s underside is flat and smooth, whereas Mistress has a raised vein-like ridge that runs down the underside. The most apparent design difference is the heads. Where Riley is larger and bulbous, the Mistress is much smaller and tapered, with a slightly more defined ridge.

Experience

Riley is nice, I won’t lie. The size is not overly large for my preferences, the curve feels right and the bulbous head does not catch my pubic bone as much as most others do. That said, something’s just kind of off. It’s not necessarily bad but it just isn’t the one I find myself reaching for. The bullet is also uncomfortably buzzy for me.

After a few uses, I discovered a tiny puncture in the silicone right near the tip. It seems to be rather deep and I am unsure if I received it that way or if it was something I did to it. Nonetheless, it is worrisome and that alone is reason enough for Riley to not get much use. I hope the hole can be appreciated in the picture below:

It is a bit unfortunate that I have not gotten the chance to test Riley out while pegging my partner. When I finally do, I'll surely use a condom over it or either boil the heck out of it or just toss Riley out afterwards.

I really wish I knew where that hole came from and if it was my doing or simply a defective toy. Since I am long past the return policy’s time allowance, I am stuck with this one. In any case, Riley didn’t prove to be a stand-out among my collection, though I am still eager to get my partner’s opinion. I will definitely include his thoughts in my follow-up.
