The Anal Toy Single from Nob Essence is a very pleasant toy. Other words just don't seem to describe the sensations it produces so perfectly as the word pleasant does. If you're a fan of anal toys, or maybe even if you're not, this toy is very happily satisfying, both physically and visually.

The Anal Toy Single is a smoothly crafted and somewhat oddly-shaped hunk of wood. Out of context, I don't think it would be immediately obvious that this item is a sex toy. Its shape reminded my girlfriend of some kind of sculpture, so when it's not in use in my ass, it actually adorns our bookshelves at home.

The manufacturer claims it is treated with a certain anti-microbial coating and doesn't make any mention of traditional safer sex equipment, so I imagine they think it's safe to use without a condom. Some thin plastic-like coating is evident on the toy, though I still prefer to use condoms when playing with any insertables; it's probably safer and it makes cleanup easier. The point is, this toy no longer feels purely like wood. However, it is lightweight, the way wood is, and it's not cold upon first contact as metal and some plastics might be, which is very nice.

When I was ready to give the toy a try for the first time, I wasn't entirely sure how I should go about doing it. The odd shape of the thing provided no clear direction as to how it should be inserted, other than which end was intended to be placed inside the anus. I soon discovered that it didn't really matter, because the toy felt good regardless of its orientation inside me.

Inserting the toy requires a little more maneuvering than other anal plugs because of its slight double-curved shape. Once inside, I found the Anal Toy Single to be neither too big nor too small. If Goldie Locks ever discovered this item, I can easily imagine her saying that it fit "just right."

What made this toy more than just a standard anal plug, however, was how nicely it almost held itself close to my body. Its presence was never far from my mind, not because of its intensity but because of its gentle, comforting pressure. That is a special thing for an anal toy to accomplish.

Despite all the prior praise for the Anal Toy Single, I have to wonder what makes it cost as much as it does. Is it the packaging? The toy ships inside a sturdy wooden box. Is it the material? It iss just wood. Is it hand-crafted?

There's no doubt in my mind that this is one the nicer anal toys I've played with in a long while, and I think it's only unfortunate that other manufacturers don't follow suit by designing equally satisfying toys. Nevertheless, I couldn't justify spending so much for a toy like this just because other manufacturers don't have the quality of this one.

Then again, maybe I could….

Out of a possible 5 stars, the Anal Toy Single from Nob Essence gets an extremely pleasant 4 stars from me.
