Severin medium - butt plug by Tantus - review by ScottA

The Severin Medium plug is best for moderate to long term anal wear, but it also feels pretty good for short-term use. It stays put during use, but its size means that you'll probably want to start off with another toy for warm-up unless you're experienced enough anally to take the smaller 1-1/2" bulge cold. While we had high hopes for some "off-label" use as a vaginal toy as well (the bumps looked like they'd be stimulating), but it's too short to reach the G-spot and doesn't offer much clitoral stimulation, so it's best to use anally as directed. Don't worry - the Severin's plenty interesting even without any off-label tricks.

Along with most of Tantus' toys, the Severin is made out of 100% silicone and is soft enough to bend with your curves, yet sufficiently stiff to push back and provide plenty of stimulation. The surface is completely smooth and shiny, without even a hint of a mold line.

The Severin series of plugs are shaped somewhat like a soft-serve ice cream cone or high-voltage electrical insulator. Both examples convey the feelings produced by the Severin: delicious and powerful.

The dual-bumps and extended tip of the Severin help you to ease this plug inside, and once inside the long neck and noticeable bulge work together to make long-term retention effortless. The small-enough yet not flimsy base prevents the Severin from slipping all the way inside while staying comfortably out of the way. I have no concerns about wearing the Severin Medium out in public - it'll stay securely where you put it, and it's highly unlikely that anyone else will know it's there (unless you want them to know). The base is so discreet that you might even be able to get away with wearing it undetected while nude, provided you don't bend over. I'm not going to be intentionally testing that anytime soon, but the base is so good at staying hidden it might be possible.

You shouldn't buy the Severin for the base though, and you certainly won't use it for the base. You'll use it for the fantastic sensations that the twin bumps call out of the depths of your being, or at least your bottom. Once inside the Severin works a bit like an Aneros prostate massager: as you clench your muscles the bulges move around inside, stimulating various parts of your internal anatomy (including the P-spot if you've got one). It feels great - this is a very stimulating plug for it's size.

It's important to keep the size of the Severin Medium in mind. At it's widest point it's almost 2 inches in diameter - but it doesn't look it. Combine that with the modified "knob" styling (which increases in size pretty fast and you end up with a plug that's probably not a good fit for the beginner. Even many people with anal experience might want to warm up a bit before tackling the Severin Medium. If you can take it (or think you can), it's definitely worth it (if you want something smaller there's the Severin Small) The Severin Medium's two stage design also helps during insertion, since you can give yourself time to relax after inserting the first bulb.

The Severin's strong points are security and stimulation. It's a great toy to use as a part of warm up, or to stay warmed up. It's also a fantastic choice for a long-term wear plug. I can think of only two things I wouldn't recommend it for: I wouldn't use it as a beginner plug, and I wouldn't use it as a "quickie" warm up plug. The Severin should be used when you have enough time to enjoy it. It deserves to be savored.

Pure Platinum Silicone is easy care - hand or machine wash (dishwasher, top rack), and sanitize if you want using 10% bleach or boiling water. You'll probably want to store it somewhere that keeps it away from dust and lint (the surface of silicone attracts dust like a dust cloth), but other than that silicone is almost completely inert.

It's usable with your favorite water-based or oil-based lubes - just make sure to put enough on for comfort.

I love this toy - I can slip it in fast, yet it's highly stimulating. Among my plugs, only the Tristan II shares this category of quick-WOW plugs. Not only that, but it's a "wow" that won't embarrass me if someone drops by or I need to go outside.
