Classic butt plug medium - butt plug discontinued by Doc Johnson - review by Laccaria

The Classic Butt Plug, in many ways, truly does live up to its self proclaimed title of “classic”. In my opinion, the shape and size of the medium Doc Johnson Butt Plug really does serve as a standard of excellence. The entrance is smooth and easy; the wide part is bulbous enough to remain firmly seated in the ass and to provide a pleasant pressure, but not so large as to hurt; the neck is narrow enough to be comfortable, but wide enough to be felt; and the base is large enough to be secure, but shaped to be comfortable between the cheeks.

Unfortunately, the fatal flaw of the Classic Anal Plug is its poor quality and construction. First off it is made of rubber a slightly mysterious substance with a number of unknown qualities. What is known is that rubber is quite porous and thus essentially impossible to sterilize. Therefore, if you want to share this toy, it is recommended that you use a fresh condom for every application.

In addition, this toy has a tendency to come apart, literally, at the seams. Rather than being constructed of one solid piece, as are the other butt plugs of my acquaintance, the Classic Butt Plug is made of at least three pieces. There is an outer covering, an inner core and a stopper-like piece on the bottom. As far as I can tell, in the intact toy there is a layer of air between the smooth outer-covering and the rubbery inner-core which is sealed in place by the soft rubber stopper in the bottom of the plug.

Sadly, in my plug, the seal created by the soft rubber stopper broke after only a few months in light rotation even though I had only ever washed the plug in warm, soapy water. The broken seal made the Classic Anal Plug oddly squishy and floppy and difficult to insert. A quick search of the comments sections of my favorite sex toy sites leads me to believe that this is a fairly common problem.

That being said, I still think that the Classic Butt Plug can be a good investment for people very new to anal play. I absolutely do not guarantee that this butt plug will last beyond a few weeks, but in my city a movie ticket costs $10 and most movies last for only 90 minute. I do believe that you can get 90 minute of pleasure out of this butt plug. I also think it’s an excellent way for anal novices to begin to experiment without making a large investment in a toy they are uncertain if they will enjoy.

To summarize: If you know what your ass likes, buy something better. If you’re curious but uncertain about butt plugs buy this (or the smaller version) and try it out for a minimal investment.
