Vibrating prostate massager discontinued

Does not live up to its full potential

This is a very unique design for a prostate massager, in that it has a rotating head and vibrates too. The concept is great, but in practice its flaws become apparent. There is not much variety to the settings or vibration patterns and worst of all it is loud, when operating the motor. The Revo had a lot of potential, but doesn't deliver enough options, given the price. It's comfortable and fairly stimulating, but will not get my highest rating.

Use

The Nexus Revo is a prostate massager, but can also be used for G-spot stimulation if you are a vagina owner too. I'd say this is meant for intermediate prostate players, as it might be a bit difficult for a beginner to insert, but if you have some experience with anal play, you shouldn't have too much problem. The business end of the Revo is curved in Nexus style and not only vibrates, but the head rotates for extra stimulation and internal massage (kinda like wiggling your finger in a circle). The rounded head swivels around (like doing neck rolls in yoga)to massage your prostate or G-spot.

The base is rather large, but manageable, so you aren't going to have to worry about accidentally losing your Revo inside you. The best use is more or less sitting/kneeling or laying stationary after insertion and letting it do its work on you. You can use it on a bed or soft chair, but since it is not waterproof, you won't be able to use in the shower or tub.

Material / Texture

The head of the material is made of 100% silicone and the base is an ABS type plastic. The silicone is smooth with a normal amount of drag. It is plush and pliable and sorta hollow at the tip where the head moves. You can squeeze it and feel what is underneath it. Other than the head being flexible/squeezable, the rest of the toy is firm. The head only moves while activated via battery power. You can not move it manually, but it will remain in whatever position it was in when you turn it off (head leaning to front/back or sides).

There are nubs on the base that are supposed to rest against the perineum and stimulate it with the vibrations, but I can't say my perineum really noticed much of anything worth noting.

There is no noticeable odor and it is non-porous.

Design / Shape / Size

The head is purple and the base is light grey. The shape is similar to other nexus toys, but with the larger base for the motor/vibrator. It's not exactly realistic looking, though it is vaguely phallic in shape. The size is definitely not for a beginner, but those with a little anal play experience should be able to handle the size. This toy is not discreet at all. It screams sex toy and it's not quiet either. I would not travel with it, personally.

The toy is 5 3/4" long with 3 3/4" of that insertable. The circumference is 4 1/4" or about 1 3/8" in diameter at its widest part. It weighs about 1.3lbs.

It is best used solo, but could be incorporated into partner play. It does not, however, stay inserted during male-on-top intercourse. It wants to slide out, probably due to the weight mostly, but it is also rather filling. I notice sometimes it wants to slide out, when I am about to cum, if I am not bearing any weight on it. It is also about as long of a toy as I want to insert. Any deeper would be too much. Ideally, it might even be 1/2" or so shorter for my anatomy.

The head is the widest point and is relatively blunt in comparison to similar toys like the Aneros Progasm, which has a more rounded head. The Revo is a little harder to insert initially by comparison.

Performance

I really liked the concept of this toy. I have mixed feelings on it though. On the one hand it feels good inserted, once you get used to it and it takes a minute or two for me to insert it fully, making it the most difficult of my prostate toys to insert. It is nice and filling and rests comfortably fully inserted.

The vibrations are OK...nothing earth shattering, but it is very disappointing that there are not more options for intensity or patterns, considering the price-point of this toy. You ONLY have 3 options: Rotation only, Vibration and motion and a Buzz-Buzz-Buzz vibration pattern with motion. Sorely lacking, there is not even an option for Vibration only. The movement can get a little irritating after a while and just vibration only would be nice.

There is only one control button, so you have to cycle through the 3 options AND to OFF, before you can re-select a new pattern. Kind of annoying if you like to change cycles often. The button is easy enough to reach though. There are no speed variations on the motor either. Again this is disappointing. I could live without vibration patterns, since steady ones tend to be my favorite, but I'd at least like the option to control the intensity and possibly the speed of the rotations.

It runs on 2 AA batteries and so far the battery performance seems pretty good. Of course, the day after I broke down and ordered this, the rechargeable version Revo 2 FINALLY came out on EF, which I think is also waterproof. I would get that one for the extra $20 if I was getting a new one. Like many toys, they seem to get released in Europe ahead of the USA.

Did I mention this thing is Loud? The motor has this slow grinding oscillating sound, kinda like an old battery operated robot toy from my childhood, on it's last legs. This is fairly unacceptable. A silent or quiet motor should have been possible. It's pretty distracting too. Definitely something heard through a closed door, but your roommates won't think it's a sex toy necessarily; maybe a toy robot or tank. This can be muffled by sitting on a pillow, which brings me to my next point.

The base is large enough that it would not be comfortable to sit on...at least for any length of time. It's fine if you sit on a soft cushion or pillow. I think using one of those cylindrical pillows or liberators between your legs, while kneeling, would be the best way to use the Revo.

In a nutshell, this toy is disappointing for the price. I got it 40% off at least, but still think it was too much. It feels somehow incomplete and underachieving.

Care and Maintenance

Because it is silicone, you should use water-based lubes. You can wash it with soap and water or toy cleaner and run hot water over the insertable portion while holding it upside down. The battery compartment door lies precariously close underneath the dildo part, so you have to be careful about lube or water flowing down into the battery compartment when washing it. I'm not sure how watertight it is, but it should be safe. You may have to clean out the rims of the compartment from time to time if you are a heavy lube user. I would definitely not submerge it, but it may be splash-proof at least though.

Again, this is a bit of a poor design, but I knew about that before purchasing, so I've taken precautions already. Just FYI.

It comes with a nice storage pouch, which makes it easy to store. Though the sturdy packaging could be used as well, if you choose.

Packaging

The packaging is very nice. It comes in a very sturdy/durable box that opens in a unique, but impractical way. Included is a cloth storage pouch and manual. The box can definitely be used for storage or gifting. It is fairly discreet too. It says Revo on it, but doesn't scream sex toy. Only someone familiar with the product, would guess what is inside.

Personal comments

Sadly, I ordered this the day or two before the Revo 2 was introduced on EF. That version is rechargeable and I think waterproof (click n charge type). I'm not sure if any improvements or functions were added (no reviews yet). Being that it is only $20 retail price, it seems the no-brainer choice between the two, unless you prefer using regular batteries.

Experience

I did try this on my partner vaginally before I used it on myself. I'm not sure she got past the noise of the motor, but it didn't do much for her. YMMV. I did it more out of curiosity than anything, since I bought it for myself. It might work for some and is probably better for solo play. I also inserted it the first time, while getting a BJ. The movement part took some getting used to. It was slightly uncomfortable, but not painful.

I've used it solo several times and enjoy the feeling of inserting it with the steady vibrations on. Besides the noise, I'm not sure that that motion really enhances my experience that much. It's a unique sensation, but maybe not the type of stimulation I really like. I think I prefer it to just remain still inside, but then there is no option for vibration, without motion.

I give it about 3.5 Stars. Mainly due to price, lack of settings, and noise to pleasure ratio. It's not all bad though. Take my opinions and observations with a grain of salt. Considering I have purchased a lot of prostate toys (10-15) from EF over the past 9 months, I have found some toys that just rock my world and have become a bit more selective and in tune with my body. This one was the most expensive of all of them and is not my favorite, but I still do use it from time to time.

Check that, I just sprung for the Lelo Earl with my saved points, which may turn out to be a big disappointment, but I can't get it out of my head, despite the utterly ridiculous price. Review forthcoming....3 more long days til I get it.
Follow-up commentary
I never really gelled well with this toy. The shape, large base, the noise and difficult to clean were a deterrent to using it much. I was curious if the II rechargeable version was any improvement, but it's quite expensive. This just didn't do it for me.
