The Gold Laced G by SSA glass is my first foray into glass toys. I chose it because of its smaller size and subtle texture. It seemed like the perfect first glass toy, and it is! For those wishing to try a glass toy, the Gold Laced G is comfortably sized, is inexpensive, and has just a hint of texture. It can be used vaginally for G-spot stimulation due to its slight upward curve. Because it has a flared base, it can also be used anally without having to worry that the toy will pull a Jimmy Hoffa and disappear into the cavernous depths of your colon. Regardless of which orifice you choose to pleasure with the Gold Laced G, always remember that glass is extremely hard and has no give. Thrusting too vigorously can cause unpleasant internal bruising. As long as you don't go overboard, the Gold Laced G will provide pleasure anytime and anywhere with minimal care. Like all glass toys, the Gold Laced G is fun for temperature play. Warm it up in hot water or cool it down in cold water. Take it in the tub or shower. Take it anywhere!

The Gold Laced G is made of Pyrex glass. Pyrex glass is extremely hard and durable. It is nonporous, free of latex and phthalates, and hypoallergenic. Glass is among the safest of materials available for sex toys. It has no discernible taste or smell and does not drag. The Gold Laced G is wrapped with golden yellow ribbons of texture. The texture provides only subtle stimulation, so this toy would even be appropriate for those who prefer little to no texture. Because the texture is subtle, it is especially appropriate for beginners.

The Gold Laced G is smaller than a typical dildo. It is about 6-3/4 inches long with about 6 of those inches being insertable. It is approximately 1-1/8 inches in diameter. It has a base that projects 1-1/8 inches from the bottom of the shaft and is approximately a half inch thick. The base is excellent for getting a good grip on the toy during use. At the head of the dildo are two golden yellow ribbons of texture that circle the head in a manner suggestive of a coronal ridge and frenulum. There is also a cleft in the tip of the dildo that is suggestive of a urethral opening. Below the head, the entire shaft of the dildo is wrapped in golden yellow ribbons of texture, which provide only the most subtle amount of stimulation. The shaft has a light bend in it toward the head that can be used for G- or P-spot play.

For me, a glass toy newbie who likes smaller toys, the shape and design of this toy was absolutely perfect. For those who like an average-to-large-sized toy, this may be too small. However, I think it would be a good choice for a first-time glass user.

Since the toy has the look of a stylized penis, it is not particularly discreet. It would be easy for anyone to guess what it is used for. Having said that, I don't think this should prevent you from traveling with it if that is your desire. It's small enough to stash anywhere as long as it is secure from being dropped or banged around.

The Gold Laced G provided me with an inexpensive, nonthreatening way to experiment with glass. The size was perfect for me, and I was able to hit my G-spot with little trouble. I am not adept at having an orgasm from G-spot stimulation alone. I need some clitoral stimulation. I used the Gold Laced G to warm up my G-spot and then finished off with my Jopen Vanity Vr5. Another option would be to use the Gold Laced G for internal G-spot stimulation while simultaneously using a bullet for clitoral stimulation. Even though I eventually switched to a vibrator, the Gold Laced G really got my juices flowing. I didn't need any extra lube for the vibrator.

Because the Gold Laced G is nonporous and has no motor, it has the widest range of options for cleaning. You can simply used mild soap and water or toy cleaner. If you wish to share the toy or use it in more than one orifice, it can be sanitized by boiling for three minutes or cleaning with a 10% bleach solution. It can also safely go on the top rack of the dishwasher (skip the soap). Once it is cleaned, it can be stored in the included drawstring pouch. It doesn't attract lint, so it should stay nice and clean while in storage.

Glass can be used with any type of lube, and it generally doesn't require a lot of lube either. Just make sure the lube you are using is appropriate for the orifice you'll be sticking the toy into!

The Gold Laced G comes wrapped in bubble wrap and placed inside a red velour drawstring pouch. The pouch is very soft and would certainly be fine for storage and presentation as a gift. However, it is not padded. Eden has a couple of nice padded pouches that can be seen here and here. No instructions were included with the toy, but I really didn't need any.
